After losing six of their first seven games in 2024, the Akron Zips finished by winning three of their last five. The last two decisions were particularly sweet as UA knocked off rival Kent State to capture the Wagon Wheel trophy before finishing with an overtime upset of Toledo.
Junior quarterback Ben Finley is back after helping Akron finish fifth among MAC teams in passing. However, that's considerably better than the Zips did in overall offense and scoring.
