Kickers critical late in WMU win over Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich.- Western Michigan improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference with a 20-17 overtime win on the road at Eastern Michigan Saturday.

After missing what would have been a game-winning 37-yard field goal at the end of regulation, freshman Josh Grant got a shot at redemption and nailed a 21-yarder through the goalposts in overtime.

Toledo hands Zips first MAC loss

TOLEDO, OHIO –
The Toledo Rockets scored touchdowns on three of their first four possessions to kick start a dominating 48-21 win over Akron Saturday afternoon at the Glass Bowl.

Senior WR Logan Woodside  passed for 304 yards and five touchdowns in three quarters of action as the Rockets improved their record to 6-1 overall.

Northern Illinois rolls past Falcons

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Northern Illinois put together its most complete performance of the year, defeating Bowling Green 48-17 Saturday at Doyt Perry Stadium.
 
The win improved NIU’s record to 3-0 in the MAC and 5-2 overall as the Huskies moved within one win of bowl eligibility. Bowling Green fell to 1-7, 1-3 in MAC play.

After squeaking out a 14-13 victory over Buffalo last week, the Northern Illinois Huskies will try to post a third straight win Saturday in Bowling Green.

It’s been a tough year for BG, which is scoring a lot of points, but usually giving up more. The Falcons have just one win through seven games, and that was aided by a Miami fumble with first and goal at the Falcons one-yard line.

The Kent State Golden Flashes ended a four-game losing streak last Saturday, defeating Miami 17-14. KSU came back from a 14-3 deficit, picking up its first Mid-American Conference victory.
On the other side of the state, the Ohio Bobcats defeated Bowling Green 48-30 for OU's second MAC road victory of the season.
