Junior Eugene German scored 20 points, senior Dante Thorpe added nine while sophomore Rod Henry-Hayes and senior Lacey James each chipped in eight points; James also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Bradley’s 13-of-13 from the field tied a school record of 13-of-13 from the field set by Leon Rodgers against Rockford on December 6, 2000.
NIU (4-2) shot 66.1 percent (37-of-56) from the field in the contest, including 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from three, and dished out 23 assists, including seven from Thorpe and five from Bradley.
Bradley and German were each named to the Oakland Hoops Challenge All-Tournament Team. German averaged 22.3 points and 3.7 assists per game in the tournament, shooting 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the field, including 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from three; Bradley averaged 20.0 points per game in the tournament, shooting 67.6 percent (25-of-37) from the field and 60 percent (6-of-10) from three-point range.
“It’s a long season, but if we play like we did today we could play with just about anyone in the country, let alone the Mid-American Conference,” said NIU head coach Mark Montgomery. “We shared the ball, we defended, we overcame some adversity. We had a tough loss where we led for most of the second half last night and came up a little short, but we bounced right back.
“I loved our energy, I loved how fast we started. Oakland is hard to beat on this floor, they made some shots, they came back, but our defense took over in the second half.”
Bradley scored a dozen in the first seven-and-a-half minutes as NIU raced out to an early 18-8 lead. After a triple from Oakland trimmed the Huskie advantage back to seven, sophomore Zaire Mateen had a pair of great finds, one to freshman Austin Richie in the corner for a three and the second to junior Noah McCarty for a layup, as NIU took a 23-11 lead with 10:45 to play in the opening half.
Richie and McCarty each scored seven points while Mateen finished with four assists.
Mateen converted a bucket of his own at the rim and Richie stepped in the passing lane and went coast-to-coast for a jam as NIU led 27-12 with just over nine minutes to play before the break.
Oakland (3-4) made a run as the Golden Grizzlies made threes on five of six possession to cut the NIU advantage to just three, 41-38, with just over a minute to play in the half.
NIU made a pair of baskets on its final two possessions, but Oakland scored three on each of its last two, an old-fashioned three-point play and a triple at the buzzer, to trim the Huskie lead to just 45-44 at the intermission.
The Huskies shot 65.5 percent (19-of-29) in the opening 20 minutes, led by 14 points from Bradley and 12 from German. Oakland shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) in the first half, including 60 percent (9-of-15) from three, Xavier Hill-Mais had 16 first half points to pace the Golden Grizzlies.
NIU scored the first seven out of the break to lead, 52-44. Henry-Hayes opened the second half scoring with a triple, German added a layup and Bradley added a bucket as the Huskies led by eight.
A triple from McCarty and a free throw by Mateen helped the NIU lead reach 10, but Oakland responded with a three of its own and a layup off a steal to cut that lead in half to 63-58 with 11:24 to play.
NIU answered right back with the next five as Thorpe beat the shot clock and Bradley buried a trifecta from the top of the key as the Huskie lead went right back to 10.
The Huskies then scored 11 of the next 17, punctuated by a triple from Bradley, as the lead reached 82-67 with four-and-a-half to play. NIU held Oakland to 30 percent (9-of-30) shooting in the second half and cruised to the road win.
Hill-Mais led the Golden Grizzlies with 22 points, Jaevin Cumberland added 19 and Braden Norris chipped in 18 points.
The Huskies will be back on the road on Wednesday night, November 28, when they travel to Green Bay. Tipoff against the Phoenix is scheduled for 7 p.m.,
