Papi White contributed six receptions for 98 yards. (SGW/BMP) WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Ohio Bobcats fell 44-21 to the Purdue Boilermakers on Friday night at Ross-Ade Stadium.
It was the Bobcats first loss of the season, dropping them to 1-1. Purdue moved to 1-1, having lost to Louisville the previous week.
Redshirt sophomore Nathan Rourke finished the game with 16 completions for 224 yards with one touchdown, his longest pass coming on a 30-yard strike to redshirt junior wide receiver Papi White.

"We didn't stop the run at all in the first half," head coach Frank Solich said. "We did a better job of it in the second half. Once they (the Boilermakers) got the running game going, everything else worked for them. We never got a pass rush."
"We had a few turnovers on offense," Solich said. "We had a really bad game in those two categories. The offense in the first half wasn't great, but I'm proud of how they bounced back."

It was Rourke's first series of the game, as he passed for 46 yards on the drive.

Entering the second quarter, the Bobcats trailed 10-7.
The Boilermakers scored 24 unanswered points to close out the first half of the game, highlighted by a 62-yard pass from quarterback David Blough to tight end Cole Herdman.
Rourke finished out the rest of the game at quarterback, as the Bobcats scored two touchdowns in the second half. On the opening drive of the third quarter, Rourke led Ohio on a 10-play, 75-yard drive, which resulted in Ross' third touchdown of the season.
The drive, which spanned over four minutes, saw Rourke complete four passes for 71 yards, including a 28-yard pass to White.
The Bobcats struck one last time in the fourth quarter off of a 25-yard pass from Rourke to redshirt freshman wide receiver Cameron Odom. It was Ohio's only passing touchdown on the night.

Redshirt senior linebacker Chad Moore led Ohio's defensive effort seven tackles, three other Bobcats collected seven tackles. Ohio finished the night with three tackles for loss.
"We just had miscommunication all around tonight," Moore said. "We just weren't fundamentally sound. Other than that we just need to get back to basics, communication is key."
Ohio returns to action on Saturday, September 15 against the Kansas Jayhawks. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET at Peden Stadium.
