The Broncos then split a pair at the line, prior to a Turner fast-break layup. With 2:51 remaining, Turner nailed a deep three-pointer. WMU burned a timeout, as the Falcons took an 82-73 lead.
After a quick 7-0 run from Western Michigan cut the BGSU lead down to two points, senior forward Marlon Sierra converted an and-one layup with 40 seconds to go. The three-point play gave the Falcons an 85-80 lead.
Western Michigan countered with a two-point bucket. The Falcons then missed the front end of a one-and-one, but the BGSU defense locked down, defending two potential game-tying treys. On the final play of the game, a WMU three-pointer at the buzzer was off the mark.
Junior forward Daeqwon Plowden led the Falcons with 19 points. Frye (16 points), Turner (12 points) and Sierra (12 points) also scored in double figures for the Orange and Brown.
Michael Flowers had a big night for Western Michigan, hitting 11-of-21 shots from the field and adding six points at the line on the way to a 28-point performance. Brandon Johnson contributed 18, while B. Artis White and Rafael Cruz added 14 and 10, respectively.
