Shawn Roundtree led the balanced effort with 22 points. He was followed by Larry Austin (19), David DiLeo (18), Kevin McKay (14) and Rob Montgomery (12). The Chippewas got just two months from their bench, but the starting unit provided more than enough to overcome Ohio and a big day by forward Ben Vander Plas.
The freshman connected on 10-of-15 from the field and 4-of-8 outside the arc on the way to a career-high 24 points, along with 13 rebounds.
Ohio actually had eight more field goals and one more triple, but the hosting Chippewas thrived at the line. Central Michigan converted 28-of-35 charity tosses, while the 'Cats made just 4-of-13 free throw tosses.
Central Michigan held a 38-35 halftime advantage and also outscored Ohio 49-45 after intermission.
