The game was broken up by quarters, in which each team had two possessions to try and showcase their skills.
After a scoreless start to the first quarter, Team Hale broke the tie on its final possession of the period with a 33-yard pass and catch from senior Tyler Wiegers to junior Mathew Sexton to go ahead 7-0.
Defense dominated again in the second quarter, with neither team able to find the endzone. In fact, the two teams combined for just 30 total yards on offense.
After a brief halftime break, Team Fink opened up the second half by putting together an impressive 10-play, 95-yard touchdown drive to knot the score at 7-7. The game-tying play came on a 33-yard touchdown pass from sophomore Isaac Stiebeling to Latu, his first of two touchdown receptions on the day.
In the final quarter, Team Hale began by moving the ball down the field, but Team Fink's defense kicked up the intensity and forced a turnover on downs at midfield. On the ensuing drive, Hutchinson found Latu streaking down the numbers for a 40-yard touchdown to take a 14-7 lead.
On its final possession, Team Hale advanced the ball down the field with a combination of strong runs from senior Shaq Vann and an air assault from Wiegers and a slew of reserves. In the end, Team Fink's defense reigned supreme, stopping a fourth down play to end the scrimmage.
Latu finished the game with two touchdown receptions and led all all receivers in yards, while both Stiebeling and Wiegers threw for over 100 yards on the day. Eastern's stable of running backs each garnered plenty of touches on the afternoon.
