A 9-0 run left the Bobcats in front 12-3 before MU fought back seven unanswered points.
The rivals stayed close and Miami trailed by three (32-29) after Grant's triple at 2:09. However, OU closed the stanza with six straight points.
After two Brown free throws to start the second half, Roderick hit back-to-back treys, kicking off a 10-0 Bobcat run that gave the hosts a 48-31 advantage with 17:20 remaining. "The defensive effort was there, the communication was there, the gaps were there," said Ohio second-year head coach Jeff Boals. "That's what we got to continue to do. I told our guys we were dead last in the MAC in defense. In order to win a championship, you got to defend and rebound and execute the half court. I thought we did all three very well tonight."
