As a team, the Falcons made 31-of-69 shots (47.0 %), giving them 10 more "makes" than the hosting Zips. Akron, which had a four-game win streak broken Tuesday at Ohio, connected on 21-of-61 for 34.4 percent. Both teams had seven treys.
Five of Akron's 3-point goals came off the hand of Loren Cristian Jackson, who cashed in on 10-of-12 at the charity stripe on the way to a game-high 29 points. He was, however, the only UA player to reach double figures.
The Zips led 33-28 after a Garvin Clarke jumper at 3:38 of the opening stanza, but Akron could not score another field goal until Jackson hit a jumper with 15 seconds in the half.
Bowling Green registered three field goals while scoring 11 points during the stretch and carried a 38-37 edge to the locker room.
The Falcons had two key runs in the second half. The first came after Ali Ali tied the contest at 45-all with 17:04 remaining. Bowling Green then ran off six points as part of a 12-5 run. That made it a 57-50 Falcons lead, and UA was six points back (70-64) at the 4:15 mark.
Neither team scored again until Turner's layup at 3:23. Josiah Fulcher's and-one capped a six-point run that gave BGSU a 12-point edge that held up as a final margin in the 83-71 decision.
