A highly anticipated battle between the MAC's mid-season Titans left one Titan and one Titanic as Akron (14-5, 7-0 MAC) blasted Miami (14-5, 6-1 MAC) 102-74 Saturday at Rhodes Arena.
Both teams owned 6-0 MAC records, and MU rode an eight-game win streak into the matchup. Akron remains atop the conference, while Miami is alone in second. Ohio and Toledo are third with 5-2 league marks.

YPSILANTI, MI -- Eastern Michigan (10-9, 4-3 MAC) shot 54.2 percent from the field and took advantage of a 20-9 edge in turnovers to defeat Buffalo 90-77 Saturday at the Gervin Game/Above Center.
The Eagles trailed 45-42 at intermission but outscored the visitors 48-32 in the final 20 minutes. Jalin Billingsley's and-one at 5:49 moved EMU in front 72-71 and the Eagles expanded their advantage after that.
Billingsley and Christian Henry shared scoring honors for Eastern Michigan with 18 apiece. Da'Sean Nelson tallied 17, followed by Yusuf Jihad (15) and Jalen Terry (12).
Buffalo sophomore guard Ryan Savol led all scorers with 25 points. Tyson Dunn added 19 for the Bulls.
DEKALB, IL -- Nasir Muhammed scored 19 points, while James Dent Jr (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Quaran McPherson (18 points, 10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles as Northern Illinois (5-14, 1-6 MAC) defeated Ball State (9-10, 3-4 MAC) 76-66 Saturday at the NIU Convocation Center.
The verdict gave NIU its first MAC win and ended a six-game losing streak. Ball State fell to its third defeat in the last four games.
Quentin Jones' triple at 14:06 of the first half put the Huskies in front 11-8, and they led 40-29 at intermission. McPherson's layup at 11:08 of the second stanza put the hosts up 58-40 and they maintained a cushion through the final horn.
Than Brittain-Watts led Ball State with 16 points, connecting on 6 of 8 from the floor overall and 4 of 6 3-point attempts. Jermahri Hill and Juanse Gorosito added 12 apiece, while Mickey Pearson Jr. and Payton Sparks combined for 21 points.
The Huskies registered two more field goals, four more triples and two more free throws.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Central Michigan (9-10, 3-4 MAC) bounced back from Tuesday's narrow loss ;to Ball State with a 73-52 win over Western Michigan (5-14, 2-5 MAC) Saturday at McGuirk Arena.
Jakobi Heady led all scorers with 16 points, eight of which came at the free throw line. Kyler Vanderjagt contributed 13 and Cayden Vasco added 11. Bryan Ndjonga hit 5 of 8 on the way to 10 points.
Markhi Strickland topped WMU with 14 points, while Owen Lobsinger chipped in 10 points while grabbing nine rebounds.
Central Michigan took the lead for good at 14:34 of the first period when Strickland scored on a layup to put the hosts up 11-9. CMU led 34-23 at the break and pulled away in the final 20 minutes.
The Chippewas owned an 11-2 advantage in points off turnovers and outscored WMU 36-22 in the paint.
