Akron basketball elevates Ford after Groce departs
DUSTIN FORD AKRON, OH -- Fast might be an understatement.
Shortly after announcing that UA head coach John Groce was departing to lead the College of Charleston program, Akron Athletics announced associate head coach Dustin Ford is stepping up to guide the Zips.
Groce came to Akron from Ohio in 2017 and guided the team to six Mid-American Conference championships and four NCAA postseason appearances

. . . playing career at Ohio University, later returned and was part of Groce's Bobcat staff from 2008-2012. After five seasons as an assistant at Illinois, Ford rejoined Groce's staff in Akron. He has served as associate head coach since 2017.
