TOLEDO, OH -- Javontae Campbell's layup with one second remaining lifted Bowling Green (11-16, 5-9 MAC) to a 69-68 victory over rival Toledo (16-11, 9-5 MAC) Friday at Savage Arena.
Campbell hit 10 of 20 shots from the field on the way to 23 points. Derrick Butler (20) and Marcus Johnson (10) added a combined 30 points for the Falcons, who shot just seven free throws (making five) on the night.
Toledo was led by Sam Lewis with 21 points. Sonny Wilson (13) and Javan Simmons (10) also reached double figures.
Both teams made eight baskets from beyond the arc, but UT connected on just 37.5 percent from the field. That gave the Rockets four less field goals.
Toledo has lost three of its last four games, but was coming off a one-point win over Ball State. Although UT made 12 of 15 free throws against Bowling Green, a missed free throw with 19 seconds left opened the door for BGSU's final basket to win the game.
