Second half rally gives Akron MAC title 3-Peat
CLEVELAND, OH -- Down by 12 points at intermission, Akron (29-5, 17-1 MAC) stomed back in the second half to nip Toledo (19-15, 11-7 MAC) 79-76 Saturday in MAC Men's Basketball Championship action at Rocket Arena. It is the third straight MAC tourney title for UA, marking the first time any program has won three straight MAC tournament.
Redshirt senior Shammah Scott, who hit just 2 of 8 treys while totaling 12 points, provided the winning margin, sinking a long triple with 6.4 seconds remaining to break a 76-all tie. A final Toledo shot from long distance was bounced off the rim.

UT's Leroy Blyden Jr. topped all scorers with 21 points.Austin Parks and Kyler Vanderjagt contributed 13 apiece, while Sean Craig chipped in 10.
The Rockets still led by 10 (52-42) with 14:45 to play, but Akron then ran off 15 straight points. Scott's jumper at 11:49 put the Zips in front 53-52 with 11:49 to go.
Both teams owned leads before a Blyden bucket at 8:53 gave the Rockets a 50-59 edge. They stayed in front with slim leads until Akron tied the game (76-76) on Johnson's layup with 1:13 remaining.
Toledo missed a shot and, after grabbing an offensive rebound, lost the ball on a turnover.That gave Akron the ball with 33 seconds left, and Scott drained his game-winning trey with with 6.4 left.
