ATHENS, OH -- The Bobcats recorded 11 steals and outscored Ball State 20-0 in points off turnovers as Ohio (10-5, 4-0) defeated Bal;l State 85-71 Tuesday at the Convocation Center.
It was the sixth straight win for Ohio, which is undefeated in MAC play. Ball State (8-8, 2-2 MAC) dropped to .500 both on the season and in MAC competition.
Aidan Hadaway and Jackson Paveletzke led Ohio with 15 apiece. AJ Brow2n and Shereef Mitchell added 12 each.
Ball Staate's Mickey Pearson Jr. tallied a game-high 19 points. Jeremiah Hill was the only other Cardinal in double figures. Payton Sparks was just short of a double-double with eight points and 12 rebounds.
BOWLING GREEN, OH -- Trey Thomas (22) and Marcus Johnson (21) combined for 43 points to lead Bowling Green (7-9, 2-2 MAC) over Buffalo (5-11, 0-4 MAC) Tuesday at the Stroh Center.
The Falcons move in front late in the first half and took a 32-28 lead into halftime. They finished off the Bulls by outscoring them 47-33 after intermission.
Derrick Butler also reache double figures for BGSU with 13 points, while Jamal Felt combined for nine pints and seven rebounds.
Ben Michaels led UB with 13 points, followed by Noah Batchelor (11) and Ryan Sabol (10).
The Bulls connected on 32.2 percent from the field and hit just 7 of 33 trey attempts (21.2%).
Bowling Green helped its cause at the line, sinking 27 (of 36) charity tosses. UB was good on 16 of 19.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Central Michigan (7-9, 1-3 MAC) broke a three-game losing streak and picked up its first MAC win with an 82-63 victory over Eastern Michigan (7-9, 1-3 MAC) Tuesday at McGuirk Arena. It was the third straight loss for EMU.
Ugnius Jarusevicius topped all players with 23 points, with 11 coming at the free throw line. He also contributed nine rebounds. Anthony Perkinds recorded 22 points, while Jakobi Heady also reached double figures for the Chippewas with 18 points.
Da'Sean Nelson hit 9 of 10 free throws while scoring a team-high 15 points for Eastern Michigan. Christian Henry had 14 points and Jalen Terry added 13.
The Chippewas led 39-33 at intermission and pulled away by outscoring the visitors 43-30 over the final 20 minutes.
AKRON, OH -- Down by 12 at intermission, Akron (11-5, 4-0 MAC) rallied to defeat visiting Toledo (9-7, 3-1 MAC) 85-78 Tuesday at James A. Rhodes Arena. With the victory, UA remained undefeated in MAC play. The Rockets absorbed their first MAC loss after opening with three straight wins.
Nate Johnson made just 1 of 3 trey attempts, but he went 12 of 23 from the field overall while scoring a game-high 28 points. He was just one rebound short of a double-double.Amari Lyles tallied 16, while Shammah Scott added 12 for the Zips.
Isaiah Adams led UT with 17 points, followed by Javan Simmons (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Sam Lewis (14 points).
Akron prevailed despite shooting just nine free throws (sinking 6), while the Rockets made 25 of 31 free throw opportunities.
UA outscored Toledo 55-36 in the second half.
KENT STATE, OH -- Markhi Strickland connected on 6 of 9 field goals on the way to 18 points as Western Michigan (4-12, 1-3 MAC) broke an eight-game losing streak with a road win over Kent State (11-5, 2-2 MAC) Tuesday at the M.A.C. Center.
The Broncos used a balanced attack to pull off the upset. Joining Strickland in double figures were JaVaughn Hannah (17), Chansey Willis Jr. (16), Donnovan Williams (15) and Brandon Muntu (10).
Kent State's Jalen Sullinger led all scorers with a 32-point performance. He connected on 8 of 12 from beyond the arc while going 10 of 19 from the field overall. Cli'Ron Hornbeak tallied 17 points and Delrecco Gillespie added 10 points with nine rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
Western Michigan led 46-40 at the break, but the game was tied at 71-all with 7:58 to go. Willis Jr. scored on a layup to move the Broncos back in front, and they built up an 86-73 advantage with 4:00 remaining. Kent State closed within five, but could not catch the visitors.
Both teams recorded 30 field goals. Although KSU had five more treys, Western Michigan had a huge night at the free throw line. The Broncos made 30 of 41 from the stripe, while Kent State connected on 14 of just 17 opportunities.

DeKALB, IL -- Northern Illinois held Miami's leading scorer to one basket and saddled Miami (12-4, 4-0 MAC) with early foul trouble, but the RedHawks used their depth to post an 84-69 victory Tuesday at the NIU Convocation Center.
It was the sixth straight win for MU, which is tied with Akron and Ohio (all at 4-0) atop the MAC standings. Northern Illinois (4-12, 0-4 MAC) dropped its fourth straight and remains winless in conference play.
