Kent State pulls away to defeat Bobcats
CLEVELAND, OH -- Delrecco Gillespie and Morgan Safford combined for 51 points and 16 rebounds to lead Kent State (24-8, 14-4 MAC) past Ohio (15-17, 9-9 MAC) 86-75 in Mid-American Conference Tournament action Thursday at Rocket Arena.
With the victory, KSU advances to meet No. 2 seed Akron Friday (7:30 p.m., CBSSN).

. . . half leads before KSU took a slim 40-38 lead to intermission. The Flashes then expanded their advantage to 15 points with 11:08 remaining in the final stanza. Ohio chipped away to pull within five (75-70) with 3:01 to play but Kent State eventually expanded its lead for an 11-point win.
Joining Gillespie (27) and Safford (24) in double figures for Kent State were Rob Whaley Jr. (14) and Cian Medley (11.).
Aiden Hadaway topped Ohio with 24 points with seven rebounds. He was followed by Javan Simmons (22 points) and Jackson Paveletzke (12 points).
