YPSILANTI, MI -- Javontae Campbell scored 25 points to lead Bowling Green (12-16, 6-9 MAC) over Eastern Michigan (14-14, 7-8 MAC) 65-60 Tuesday at the Gervin GameAbove Center.
The Falcons opened up a 34-16 lead with 4:01 remaining in the first half and took a 35-19 advantage to intermission. EMU fought back and was down by one (46-45) with 9:01 remaining. However, Bowling Green maintained a lead through the finish.
DaJion Humphrey (14) and Derrick Butler (11) joined Campbell in double figures for BGSU.
Jalen Terry led Eastern Michigan, which made two of just four free throws in the game. The Eagles also went 6 for 28 (21.4%) from beyond the arc. Jalen Billingsley tallied 13 and Christian Henry added 10 points.
KENT, OH -- Kent State (19-9, 9-6 MAC) shot 58.9 percent from the field and dominated the boards (43-24) in a dominating win over Toledo Tuesday at the M.A.C, Center.
It was the fourth loss in five games for UT, which connected on just 2 of 13 (15.4%) from long distance. KSU bounced back from Friday's loss at Miami to win its sixth game in the last seven outings.
Marquis Barnett's triple at 14:52 of the first period put the Flashes in front, and they expanded their advantage to 54-30 at intermission. They added more in the second stanza, outscoring the visitors 51-35 for a 40-point victory.
KSU senior forwad VonCameron Davis scored 21 to lead all scorers. Jamal Sunlin was right behind with 20 points, followed by Barnett (19), Delrecco Gillespie (16) and Cli'ron Hornbeak (13).
Sam Lewis topped the Rockets with 17 points. Joining him in double figurs were Sonny Wilson (13), Isaiah Adams (10) and Javon Simmons (10).
KALAMAZOO, MI -- Chansey Willis Jr. scored 34 points and two other Broncos recorded double-doubles as Western Michigan (10-18, 7-8 MAC) defeated Ohio 82-73 Tuesday at University Arena.
The Bobcats (15-13, 9-6 MAC) were coming off an impressive upset of previously MAC-undefeated Akron Saturday. However, WMU out-rebounded the visitors by 10, had two more field goals and made six more free throws.
Western Michigan led 36-33 at intermission, but the game was tied at 61-all with just under 10 minutes remaining. Seryee Lewis' layup gave WMU the lead, and it held off the 'Cats for a nine-point victory.
Joining Willis in double figures for the Broncos were JaVaughn Hannah (14 point, 10 rebounds) and Donovan Williams (10 points, 12 rebounds).
Shereef Mitchell topped Ohio with 21 points. AJ Brown recorded 15 points, while Jackson Paveletzke (11) and Elmore James (10) combined for 21 points.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Anthony Pritchard and Jakobi Heady scored 18 points apiece to lead Central Michigan (13-15, 6-9 MAC) to a 73-69 win over Buffalo (8-20, 3-12 MAC) Tuesday at McGuirk Arena.
With the victory, CMU recorded back-to-back MAC wins for the first time since mid-January. Buffalo lost its fourth straight game and seventh in the last eight.
It was a tight game throughout, and UB led 38-34 at intermission. That margin increased to eight points (50-42) before the Chippewas made their move. Cayden Basko's triple at 6:56 gave CMU the lead it held off Buffalo down the stretch.
Heady also recorded 11 rebounds to go with his 18 points. Ugnius Jarusevicius contributed 14 points and Kyler Vanderjagt added 12.
Bryson Wilson led UB with 22 points. Ryan Sabol (11) and Anquan Boldin Jr. (10) combined for another 21.
MUNCIE, IN -- Tavari Johnson scored 21 points as Akron (23-6, 14-1 MAC) bounced back from its only MAC loss of the season with an 87-82 win over Ball State (14-14, 7-8 MAC) Tuesday at Worthen Arena.
The game was tied 18-all with 13:27. Shammah Scott's basket put UA in front and the Zips led 47-39 at intermission. After holding a 59-54 lead with 12:03 to go, UA held off a late Cardinals challenge.
Scott tallied 18 for Akron. Amari Lyles (11) and Nate Johnson (10 points, 9 rebounds) also reached double figures.
Jermahri Hill topped BSU with 26 points. Mickey Pearson scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Ethan Brittain-Watts added 11 points.
OXFORD, OH -- Eian Elmer and Brant Byers scored 22 points apiece, while the RedHawks' bench contributed 49 points as Miami (21-7, 12-3 MAC) cruised by Northern Illinois (5-23, 1-14 MAC) 87-58 Tuesday at Millett Hall.
It was the 14th consecutive home win for Miami, setting a new school record. Meanwhile, the 12 MAC wins are MU's most since 2005-06.
Northern Illinois, meanwhile lost its ninth straight game and moved a step closer to finishing its MAC experience in last place.
