The second half of the 2020 Mid-American Conference football season begins Friday afternoon when the Central Michigan Chippewas travel south to face their long-time rivals -- the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
CMU suffered its first loss of the season last week, falling to Western Michigan in an offense barrage 52-44. Eastern, meanwhile, continues to look for their first victory of the season after falling to Toledo 45-28.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN CHIPPEWAS (2-1)
• The Chippewas were last in action on November 18 as they dropped their first game of the campaign to the Western Michigan Broncos at home, 52-44, in a game that saw 13 touchdowns and 1,034 yards of total offense.
• The Broncos scored touchdowns on four consecutive first half possessions to take a 31-14 lead at halftime. The home team fought back with a pair of fourth quarter scores, but the deficit was too much to overcome
• CMU opened defense of its Western Division title with a home win over Ohio 30-27 and followed with a 40-10 victory at Northern Illinois.
• Jim McIlwain is midway through his second season as CMU head coach after coming over at the end of 2018 season. He was previously on Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Michigan as the receivers coach.
• McIlwain is 10-6 in his time at CMU and had coaching success at Colorado State and Florida, compiling an overall record of 54-34
• In 2019, McIlwain took the Chippewas from 1-11 to 8-6, winning a Western Division title and berth in the MAC Championship Game for the first time since 2009. CMU also accepted a berth in the New Mexico Bowl against San Diego State. McIlwain was named MAC Coach of the Year
• Over their three games of 2020, the Chippewas have averaged 38 points and 422 yards of total offense. At the controls is redshirt freshman QB David Richardson. He has completed 49-of-79 passes for 596 yards, with four touchdowns and just one interception. His 191.7 total yards per game is eighth in the conference. Against WMU, he was 13-of-19 passing for 137 yards and a score
• Junior Kaleb Lewis averages 95 yards per game rushing and gained 114 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns last week.
• Junior WR Kalil Pimperton also went over 100 yards on the ground against the Broncos with 108 yards on seven carries, including a 65-yard touchdown scamper on the third play of the game.
• The CMU defense has allowed 29.7 points and 405.7 total yards in the three encounters
• Junior LB George Douglas leads with 29 total tackles (16 solo), good for seventh overall in the MAC.
• Senior DL Troy Hairston is tied for second with three sacks and leads in tackles for loss with seven
• Sophomore DB Willie Reid has recorded two forced fumbles.
EASTERN MICHIGAN EAGLES (0-3)
• Like Central Michigan, EMU was also in action on November 18 as the Toledo Rockets made the short trip to Ypsilanti and came away with a 45-28 victory. The Eagles managed just 278 yards of total offense, of which only 34 came on the ground
• The Eagles are looking for their first victory after close losses at Kent State, 27-23, and Ball State, 34-31
• Head Coach Chris Creighton is half way through his seventh season with the Eagles. He has a 29-50 record at EMU and is 167-96 overall.
• The Eagles offense has averaged 27.3 points and 364.3 yards and is a perfect 12-for-12 inside the red zone
• Senior QB Preston Hutchinson leads the EMU offense. He has completed 61.8 percent of his passes (63-of-102) for 740 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions
• In addition, Hutchinson is the Green and White's leading rusher with 112 yards on 43 carries with four scores
• WR Hassan Reydon leads the receivers with 17 catches for 176 yards tied for third in the conference
• Defensively EMU has allowed 36.7 points and 488.7 yards
• Junior LB Terry Myrick leads Eastern with 34 total tackles (13 solo), along with a sack, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup
• Senior DL Turan Rush leads the conference with 3.5 sacks
