The Bulls open with FCS member Lafayette, who went 9-3 in 2023. The 5-1 league mark, coupled with a 38-35 win over Holy Cross, was good enough to give LU a league title. That victory was part of a season-high six-game win streak.
The Leopards were the preseason poll favorite to repeat and running back Jamar Curtis was picked as Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He led the Patriot League and ranked second in NCAA DI FCS in rushing yards per game (132.7), while ranking second in the League and fifth in the nation with 15 rushing touchdowns.
Sophomore QB Dean DeNobile posted a League-best completion percentage (66.7) after completing 170-of-255 passes in 12 games.

The Blue Devils went 3-8 overall and were just 1-6 (last) in Northeast Conference. A preseason coaches poll predicted another seventh/last place finish in 2024. It's the Blue Devils' second year under Head Coach Adam Lechtenberg. Among other items on his to-do list is improving the defense. CCSU finished last among NEC teams in conference scoring defense. His top returning pieces are junior RB Elijah Howard and junior DL Kimal Clark.
Howard helped CCSU lead the league in rushing (186.8 ypg), while Clark averaged 8.9 tackles per contest, second most among NEC defenders. Jack Barnum, meanwhile, led the league's kickers in scoring. He was 10 of 31 on PATs and 13 of 18 on field goals.

Although the Dukes finished 7-5 overall last year, they won the Northeast Conference title with a 6-1 record. Lopsided losses at West Virginia (56-17), Coastal Carolina (66-7) and Delaware (43-17) contributed to the overall mark. Once in league play, Duquense lead the NEC in scoring offense (32.5 ppg) and was tied for second in points allowed (22.2 ppg).
In a preseason coaches poll, Head Coach Jerry Schmitt's Dukes got the nod to repeat atop the 2024 standings.
Duquense thrived on its passing game last year and enjoys the return of 2023 All-NEC First Team quarterback Darius Perrantes. He threw for 2,324 yards with 21 TDs and 18 interceptions overall. He has plenty of experience on the other end with seniors Tedy Afful, Joey Isabella and transfer TE/HB Noah Canty.
DL A.J. Acderkman and LB Gianni Rizzo were preseason All-NEC picks on the defensive side.
