BUFFALO 37, EASTERN MICHIGAN 20
TOLEDO, OH -- Ohio (8-3, 6-1 MAC) fell behind 7-0 in the first half but shut out hosting Toledo (7-4, 4-3 MAC) after intermission to post a 24-7 victory Wednesday at the Glass Bowl.
The Bobcats out-gained UT 367-194 overall and limited the Rockets to just 21 yards rushing on 25 attempts (0.9 ypc). Ohio also forced three turnovers while commiting just one.
After a scoreless first quarter, Toledo got on the board with a 23-yard Tucker Gleason pass to tight end Anthony Torres with 10:12 left before intermission.
Ohio finally got on the board and tied the game (7-7) with a Parker Navarro 1-yard run at 6:20 of the third period. Navarro's second rushing TD early in the fourth quarter moved Ohio in front and the 'Cats added 10 more points in the final 8:07.
Ohio totaled 238 yards on the ground. Anthony Tues III (33 carries, 125 yards, 1 TD) and Navarro (18 carries, 104 yards, 2 TDs) led the way.
As a passer, navarro completed 11-of-19 tosses for 129 yards with one INT.
Tucker Gleason completed 9-of-17 passes (136 yards, 1 TD) for the Rockets.
YPSILANTI, MI -- Visiting Buffalo (7-4, 5-2 MAC) built up a 17-0 halftime lead and then held off an Eagles second half rally to post a 37-20 win over Eastern Michigan (5-6, 2-5 MAC) Wednesday at Rynearson Stadium.
EMU out-gained Buffalo 445-396 overall, but the Eagles committed three turnovers. On of those was a spectacular 60-yard pick-six return by Bulls linebacker Shaun Dolac to finish the night.
The Bulls also opened scoring on a spectacular play as quarterback C.J. Ogbonna hit J.J. Jenins on a 90-yard TD play midway rough the fourth quarter.
A Buffalo safety and another Ogbonna TD toss left the Bulls in front 17-0 at the break.
Eastern Michigan finally reached the scoreboard after intermission, scoring three of the next four touchdowns to pull within three (23-20) with 8:54 remaining.
One play later, however Ogbonna threw his third touchdown -- a 75-yard conection to Al-Jay Henderson. Dolac's interception return at 2:59 finished scoring.
Ogbonna completed 18-of-28, good for 260 yards with the three TDs. Jenkins topped UB receivers with five catches for 120 yards and a score. Henderson and Ogbonna combined for 35 rushes, 128 yards and a touchdown.
EMU quarterback Cole Snyder connected on 24-of-33 pass attempts totaling 351 yards with three TDs and two picks.
Markus Allen (9 receptions, 187 yards, 1 TD) and Terry Lockett Jr. (8 receptions, 122 yards, 2 TDs) led Eagle receivers. Delbert Mimms III recorded 12 carries for 49 of EMU's 70 yards rushing.
