The Golden Flashes took care of business last week, ending a 21-game losing streak with a 21-17 win over Merrimack.The visiting Warriors jumped ahead 17-14 with 5:40 to play, but Da'Realyst Clark returned the following kickoff 100 yards for what proved to be the winning -- and streak-busting -- score.
KSU will be on the road this week, facing No 24. Texas Tech. The Red Raiders blasted Arkansas-Pine Bluff 67-7 in their opener.
• Texas Tech scored 23 and 24 points, respectively, in the first two quarters and cruised to the victory. UAPB's only points came in the fourth quarter.
• The Red Raiders used three quarterbacks, combining to complete 25-of-32 tosses for 314 yards and six TDs. Behren Morton led the bunch, connecting on 16-of-20 for 201 yards and four scores.
• Twelve different receivers caught passes, with former Miami RedHawk Reggie Virgil leading the pack (4 catches, 56 yards, 1 TD)
• Texas Tech also rushed for 296 yards and three touchdowns. The Red Raiders averaged 10.5 ypc.
• Overall, Texas Tech out-gained the visitors 610-175.
Special teams played a big role in CMU's 16-14 win at San Jose State last week. Cade Graham, who scored on three of four field goal attempts, booted a 28-yarder with 4:13 remaining for the winning points. The Spartans, meanwhile, missed two field goals in the final 1:13.
The Chippewas defense will be tested this week when CMU visits Pitt. The Panthers rolled past Duquesne 61-9 in Week 1.
• Pitt passed for 302 yards and five touchdowns in the route, with Eli Holstein completing 15-of-23 for 215 y6ards with four TDs and one INT.
• Five different Pitt receivers scored touchdowns. Cataurus Hicks caught four balls for 55 yards and two scores. Bryce Yates had two catches -- one for 60 yards.
• The Panthers ground game produced 158 yards and two TDs. Desmond Reid, a 5-8, 175-pound senior, led the way with eight carries totaling 66 yards with a TD.
• Pittsburgh's defense limited the Dukes to 37 yards rushing on 31 carries.

BGSU's defense shined and the offense did enough last week as Bowling Green opened 2025 with a 26-7 win over visiting Lafayette.
• The Falcons might need more than the 268 yards of total offense they produced last week when playing a Big 12 team like Cincinnati. However, BGSU held Lafayette to just 179 total yards, including 61 yards rushing.
• QB Drew Pyne completed 12-of-18 for 109 yards, while Kaderris Roberts and Chris McMillian combined for 110 yards rushing in the Falcons win.
• Cincinnati, meanwhile, is coming off a 20-17 loss against Nebraska. The Cornhuskers scored 13 in the second quarter and went up 20-10 midway through the fourth before UC added a final TD. Cincinnati forced a punt but was intercepted to end its final drive.
• Nebraska out-gained UC 353-271 overall and limited the Bearcats to 3-of-10 on third down. However, Cincinnati converted both of its fourth down gambles.
• Junior QB Brandan Sorsby completed 13-of-25 pass attempts for a total of 65 yards and a late interception. He also led Bearcat rushing with 13 carries for 96 yards and two scores. Tawee Walker followed with seven carries for 53 yards as UC totaled 202 yards (30 carries) on the ground.
After falling to Michigan State 23-6 in Week 1, Western Michigan hosts a North Texas Mean Green team that throttled Lamar 51-0 in opening week action.
• Michigan State did almost all of its damage in the first half, putting up 21 points before intermission. However, the Broncos kept MSU's offense off the board in the final two quarter. State\s only second half points came on a two-point safety.
• Brady Jones (11/23, 97 yards, 1 INT) and Broc Lowry (5/10, 91 yards) combined for 188 passing yards, 0 TDs and 1 interception.
• Michigan State limited the Broncos to 29 yards rushing on 24 carries.
• Freshmaqn Drew Mestemaker completed 24-of-32 passes totaling 329 yards with three touchdowns.
• Cameron Dorner topped all receivers with seven catches for 98 yards and a score. Wyatt Young had two TDs among his four receptions for 97 yards.
• Seven different Mean Green running back had at least four carries. NTSU totaled 133 yards with three TDs on the ground.
• North Texas limited Lamar to 31 yards rushing on 27 trips. The defense also registered one fumble recovery and an interception.
After falling to Minnesota 23-10 last week, Buffalo looks for its first win this week when it hosts St. Francis PA.
The Red Flash are not only looking for their first win, they are looking for their first points. Louisiana Monroe shut out SFU 29-9 Thursday, Aug. 28).
• St. Francis managed just 131 yards of total offense and converted just 2-of-12 third down opportunities in the loss.
• Nick Whitfield Jr. and Jeff Hoenstine combined to complete 12-of-20 passes totaling just 50 yards with one interception.
• The Red Flash gained 81 yards with 27 carries on the ground.
• Sophomore linebacker Geno Calgaro led the SFU defense with 12 tackles. As a unit, the Red Flash defense recorded two sacks and eight TFL However, UL Monroe gained 313 yards and tallied two TDs while running 43 times for a total of 313 yards.
• Buffalo, meanwhile also struggled on offense, converting just 1-of-11 third down chances and totaling 151 yards. That included 44 yards rushing.
• Senior Bulls QB Ta'Quan Roberson completed 12-of-20 passes for 107 yards with one touchdown .
• Buffalo's Red Murdock and Dion Crawford combined for 30 tackles (8 solo) with a sack/TFL.
After falling against Temple 42-10 last week, the UMass Minutemen shoot for a home win Saturday when they host Bryant.
• The Bulldogs also came up short in their opener, dropping a 19-3 decision at New Mexico State. Neither team rushed very well, failing to reach 80 yards on the ground. Bryant totaled 68 yards rushing with an average gain of just 1.9 ypc. However, the Bulldogs limited NMSU to 78 yards on 32 trips (2.4 ypc).
• Bryant sophomore QB Brenan Myer was busy, attempting 33 passes and completing 20 for 187 yards with one interception.
• Aldrich Doe led dBryant receives with five catches for 54 yards.
• Azarel Juste picked off an Aggies pass.
• Bryce Soli provided Bryants only points with a 43-yard field goal.
• UMass grabbed an early lead against Temple, scoring the game's first points with Rocko Griffin's 18-yard run at 11:35 of the first quarter.
The Minutemen also broke a 7-7 tie with Derek Morris' 40-yard field goal, but Temple responded with 21 straight points before intermission and cruised to the win.
• Griffin contributed 94 of UMass' 103 yards rushing.
Brandon Rose completed 23-of-38 passes for 193 yards with one interception.
• Jacquon Gibson caught 12 pases for 132 yards.
After flirting with a win over Big Ten foe Rutgers last week, Ohio hosts West Virginia in what will likely be a packed Peden Stadium.
• The Bobcats trailed Rutgers 31-14 in the second period but rallied to tie the game (31-all) late in the third period. The Scarlet Knights hit a 26-yard field goal for the game's final points.
• WEST VIRGINIA held a 10-3 over Robert Morris, but added 14 and 21 points over the next two stanzas.
• The Mountaineers' offense rolled up 625 yards of offense, while the defense held RMU to 123 total yards.
• Nicco Marchiol was the primary QB for WVU, connecting on 17-of-20 passes for 224 yards and a TD.
• Cam Vaught led Mountaineer receivers with seven catches for 126 yards and a TD.
• The Mountaineers produced a whopping 393 yards and five touchdowns via the ground game. Junior Jahiem White led the way with 18 carries for 93 yards and two scores.
• The West Virginia defense registered four sacks.
• Robert Morris completed just 7-of-22 pass attempts netting a total of 70 yards.
• While the Rockets are looking for their first win, Western Kentucky already has two wins to its credit. The Hilltoppers outslugged Sam Houston 41-24 back on Aug. 23 and blasted North Alabama 55-6 last week.
• • • • • The Hilltoppers out-gained UNA 563-258.
• Most of WKU's offense came through the air as Hilltopper QBs completed 30-of-39 attempts for 399 yards and six touchdowns.
• K.D. Hutchinson led receives with five catches for 113 yards and a pair of TDs.
• Jaden McGill was the primary workhorse in the run game, carrying nine times for 46 of the team's 164 rushing yards.
• WVU's defense registered two sacks and seven TFL.
• • • • • TOLEDO managed just two points through three quarters in the loss at Kentucky. The Rockets then matched UK with 14 fourth quarter points for a 24-16 final.
• UT quarterback Tucker Gleason completed 23-of-40 passes, good for 280 yards and a TD to Junior Vandeross III (7 catches, 88 yards).
• Emmanuel McNeil-Warren recorded 11 tackles, including eight solo. Nasir Bowers picked of a Wildcat pass.
After surrendering 52 points and 606 yards of offense in a (52-27) loss at Texas State last week, Eastern Michigan hosts Long Island Saturday.
• • • • • The SHARKS had an even rougher day in their last outing as No. 15 Florida blasted LIU 55-0.
• LIU recorded just two first downs, while Florida had 28.
• Long Island was out-gained 451-86 overall.
• While Florida had zero penalties, LIU was flagged 12 times for a total of 100 yards.
• • • • • EASTERN MICHIGAN was out-gained by Texas State 606-391.
• Most of the TSU yardage came on the ground as the Bobcats totaled 392 yards with an average of 10.1 ypc.
• Eagles QB Noah Kim completed 23-of-34 passes totaling 248 yards with one TD.
After getting shutout (31-0) by Purdue in Week 1 the Cardinals are headed for another tough challenge Saturday when they visit Auburn.
• • • • • AUBURN is coming off a 38-24 win at Baylor.
• The Tigers were actually out-gained by Baylor, 483-415. The Bears had a huge advantage in passing, throwing for 419 yards, while Auburn registered just 108 yards through the air.
• Auburn rode its run game, rushing 52 times for a total of 307 yard while scoring four touchdowns.
• QB Jackson Arnold led the Tigers with 16 carries for 137 yards and two scores. Eamari Alston and Jeremiah Cob combined for another 162 yards and two TDs.
• Arnold completed 11-of-17 passes (108 yards).
• • • • • BALL STATE was out-gained by Purdue 403-203.
• The Cardinals picked up just 87 yards through the air while surrendering 340 passing yards to the Boilermakers.
No Ball State receiver had more than two catches.
• QB Kiael Kelly led BSU rushing with 22 carries for 63 of the team's 116 yards rushing.
• Carson Holmer missed both field goal tries (29-, 45-yards)
After coming out on the short end of a 10-0 defensive battle against Wyoming, Akron visits Nebraska this weekend. The Cornhuskers slipped past Cincinnati 20-17.
• • • • • NEBRASKA trailed early but led 13-3 at the half. A Cincinnati TD midway through the final period pulled UC within four at 20-17, but the Cornhuskers ended Cincy's final threat with an interception by Jacory Barney Jr. in the end zone.
• Cincinnati rode its ground game for 202 yards on 30 carries (5.7 ypc). The Cornhuskers earned 110 yards (3.1 ypc) on the ground and another 243 through the air. Sophomore QB Dylan Raiola completed 33-of-42 with two TDs.
• Five different Nebraska receivers had at leastfive receptions. Nyziah Hunter caught six balls for 65 yards and a score. RB Emmett Johnson grabbed seven passes totaling 27 yards.
Cornhusker kicker Kyle Cunanan hit both field goal tries, with a long of 62.
• • • • • AKRON was out-gained by Wyoming 426-228.
• The Zips managed just 89 yards on the ground, averaging 3.2 ypc.
• Zips QB Ben Finley completed 16-of-38 attempts totaling 139 yards with one interceptions. Sean Patrick led UA receivers with four catches for 47 yards.
• Markus Boswell picked off a Wyoming pass.
• Owen Wiley missed a 45-yard field goal try just before intermission.
