The Bobcats have already qualified for bowl eligibility, but Central Michigan still needs one more win. With Ohio this week and Toledo in the regular season finale, it won't come easy.
The Bobcats reached bowl eligibility back on Oct. 21, but fell to Miami the following week. Coupled with an earlier loss to Northern Illinois, Ohio is tied with Bowling Green for second place -- one game behind the RedHawks. With Miami holding head-to-head wins over both, the 'Cats quest for their first MAC football title since 1968 is shaky. Still, three more victories would give Ohio a very admirable 10-win season.
The Chippewas own a 27-5-2 all-time record vs. Ohio and have won five of the last six matchups, dating back to the 2011 season.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN (5-5, 3-3 MAC)
-- The Chippewas have neither won two straight nor lost two straight since starting MAC play. Their latest outing was a 38-28 loss at Western Michigan.
-- After trailing WMU 21-7 at intermission, the Chippewas scored three straight third quarter touchdowns to grab a 28-21 advantage. However, the Broncos responded with 17 unanswered fourth quarter points to take the 38-28 decision. Palmer Domschke's 27-yard field goal with 1:37 to play put the game away.
-- CMU's Jase Bauer completed 14 of 27 passes, good for 205 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Five Chippewas caught at least two passes, but only Chris Parker (3 catches, 46 yards) had more. Tyson Davis had a 67-yard TD catch among his two receptions.
-- The Chippewas ground game churned out 213 yards on 36 carries (5.9 ypc). Marion Lukes led the way with 21 trips totaling 147 yards with one score. Bauer added 40 yards on 10 trips.
-- Central Michigan’s strength is up the middle as starters return at both defensive tackles positions, both middle linebackers, and at safety.
-- Bauer has a team-best nine rushing touchdowns on 100 attempts. In the air, Bauer is 138-for-240 with seven interceptions and nine touchdowns in 10 games.
-- Kicker Tristan Mattson is 29-for-30 on PATs and 6-for-12 on field goals. In total, he’s scored 47 points this season.
-- Defensively, defensive back Trey Jones has a team-best 61 tackles, highlighted by 24 solo stops, one
interception and two pass breakups. ups. Linebacker Kyle Moretti is right on Jones’ heals, with 56 tackles on the season.
OHIO (7-3, 4-2 MAC)
-- The Bobcats were sluggish on offense through two quarters but scored all 20 of their points in the second half for a 20-10 victory over Buffalo last week.
-- Ohio was out-gained by UB 295-236 overall.
-- Senior Kurtis Rourke completed 14 of 21 passes on the night, good for 121 yards.
-- Tyler Walton and Miles Cross combined for 11 catches and 106 yards to lead receivers.
-- Sieh Bangura logged 17 carries for a total of 78 yards with two TDs.
-- Gianni Spetic hit two field goals on as many ties, with a long of 29.
-- Jack Wilson averaged 45.7 yards with a long of 52 on three punts.
-- On the year, wide receiver Sam Wiglusz has recorded three touchdowns on 44 receptions and 519 yards,
while wide receiver Miles Cross has a teambest four receiving touchdowns on 461 yards.
-- Defensively, linebacker Bryce Houston leads the team with 105 total tackles and 49 solo stops, putting him third in the MAC and seventh in FBS football. He’s also recorded 10 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions and three quarterback hurries.
-- With opponent offenses averaging just 15.10 points and 267.1 yards per game, Ohio’s defense leads the MAC and is No. 4 in FBS football. Individually, linebacker Bryce Houston is ranked 8th in FBS football in total
tackles (105).
-- Graduate student quarterback Kurtis Rourke headlines the Fall Edition of the Canadian Football League (CFL) Scouting Bureau. The native of Oakville, Ont., sits in the No. 1 spot among prospects eligible for the 2024 CFL Draft.

The Bulls led Ohio at halftime last week and limited Ohio to 236 yards through four quarters. UB’s defense is allowing 15 points and an average of 277 yards of total offense in MAC games this season, and MU's offense has been stressed since losing quarterback Brett Gabbert.
Miami leads the all-time series 16-9 over Buffalo, including capturing the first 10 matchups between the teams. This will be the 25th consecutive year the programs have met. The RedHawks are 10-3 vs. the Bulls in Oxford.
In last year's meeting, Buffalo scored a touchdown with 31 seconds remaining to edge MU 24-20. The RedHawks controlled the stat sheet, but the Bulls rallied late to earn the win.

-- Ron Cook Jr. carried 16 times for 48 yards. Overall, the Bulls gained 114 yards on the ground, averaging 2.8 ypc.
-- Bobby Curry and Ron Cook Jr. combined four eight catches and 91 yards.
-- The Bulls have been very good about ripping the ball way from their opponents this season. Buffalo has forced 11
fumbles over the last seven games, led by Max Michel, who has four, and Red Murdock, who has three. Michel and
Murdock rank one and two in the MAC in forced fumbles.
-- The Bulls forced four turnovers against Toledo. Three of those came on strips of the ball from runners.

Wise had three sacks on the evening. McKee and Salopek picked off one Akron pass apiece. Salopek’s interception was the first of his career.

Larvadain was banged up late in the game last week, and Head Coach Chuck Martin said the receiver's availability for Buffalo could be a game-time decision.
