BOWLING GREEN, OH -- Aaron Young scored on a 4-yard run with 24 seconds remaining to lift Old Dominion (1-2) over Bowling Green (1-3) Saturday at Doyt L Perry Stadium.
The Falcons led 14-7 at intermission and went up 27-23 on a Terion Stewart 13-yard scamper with 3:01 left in the fourth quarter of a see-saw contest.
Bowling Green QB Connor Bazelak completed 27 of 36 passes for 303 yards with two TDs and one interception.
Harold Fannin Jr. topped all receivers with 12 catches totaling 188 yards with two scores.
Stewart topped Falcon runners with 20 carries for 67 yards and a score.
While BGSU totaled 96 yards rushing, the Monarchs ran 36 times for 189 yards
KENT, OH -- Eastern Michigan (4-1, 1-0 MAC) broke a 21-all third quarter tie with 24 straight points on the way to a 52-33 win over Kent State (0-5, 0-1 MAC) Saturday at Dix Stadium.
KSU quarterback Tommy Ulatowwski had a big day, completing 15 of 28 passes for a total of 345 yards with three TDs and one pick. Chrishon McCray recorded five receptions for a total of 188 yards and two touchdowns. However KSU rushed for just 77 yards (with two TDs).
Meanwhile, EMU ran for 273 yards and six TDs. Delbert Mimms III led the way with we trips totaling 145 yards (2 TDs). Quarterback Cole Snyder connected on 26 of 33 attempts, producing 213 yards and a touchdown.
The Eagles played turnover-free football and forced four KSU turnovers -- three fumbles and an interception.
ATHENS, OH -- Ohio (3-1, 1-0 MAC) used a balanced offense, while the Bobcats defense limited Akron (1-4, 0-1 MAC) to minus-18 yards rushing in a 30-10 victory over UA Saturday at Peden Stadium.
The 'Cats registered a safety, two sacks and eight TFL on the day.
Ohio QB Parker Navarro completed 12 of 18 passes for 204 yards with two TDs. He also led Green and White rushing with 13 carries totaling 113 yards (1 TD), Anthony Tyus III logged 30 trips for 109 yards. Coleman Owen topped receivers with six catches for 130 yards and two scores.
Akron QB Ben Finley completed 25 of 38 attempts, producing 196 and one TD. He was picked off twice. Adrian Norton and Bobby Golden caught five apiece for a combined 108 yards. Jake Newell had eight catches (44 yards, 1 TD).Bryan McCoy led the Akron defensive effort with 14 tackles.
The Zips led 10-7 late in the second quarter, but Ohio scored on an 18-yard Owen reception with 17 seconds left before halftime. It added 18 unanswered points in the second half (14 in the fourth period).
HUNTINGTON, WV -- After trailing 17-3 at halftime, Western Michigan (1-3) rallied to tie hosting Marshall (2-2) 20-20 early in the fourth quarter. However, the Thundering Herd scored on a 34-yard pass to Christian Fitzpatrick midway through the final stanza and held WMU off for a 27-20 win.
Jaden Nixon was the Broncos workhorse, carrying 23 times for a total of 146 yards (1 TD). Western Michigan totaled 192 yards on the ground and added another 126 in the air. Hayden Wolff completed 15 of 28 pass attempts (1 TD).
Marshall outgained the Broncos 420-318 overall. Most of the Herd yardage came via rushing as the hosts averaged 6.2 ypc while totaling 243 yards on the ground.
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Central Michigan (3-2) trailed 21-10 late in the second stanza but scored the game's final 12 points for a 22-21 victory over San Diego State (1-3) at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
The Chippewas outgained SDSU 452-364 overall but committed two turnovers.
Joe Labas completed 24 of 43 passes totaling 275 yards with one TD and one INT. Nine different Chippewas caught passes. Even Boyd and Jesse Prewitt III combined for 12 receptions and 93 yards. Marion Lukes churned out 76 yards on 16 carries to lead CMU's run game.
Tristan Mattson converted all three of his field goal tries, with a long of 46. With two extra points, he provided 10 of the Chippewas 22 points.
HARRISONBURG, VA -- Undefeated James Madison (4-0) rolled up 514 yards of offense and took advantage of three Cardinal turnovers to route Ball State (1-3) 63-7 Saturday at Bridgeforth Stadium.
The Cardinals netted 77 yards rushing after JMU recorded eight TFL. The hosts also had five sacks.
Kadin Semonza completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for BSU, contributing 168 yards with one TD. However, he was picked off three times.
Tanner Koziol (9 catches, 78 yards, 1 TD) and Cam Pickett (8 catches, 53 yards) led Ball State receivers. Braedon Sloan carried the rushing load with 14 trips totaling 72 yards.
James Madison quarterback Alonza Barnett III tossed five touchdowns among his 20 completions for 280 yards.
RALEIGH, NC -- Visiting Northern Illinois (2-2) dominated the stats, but North Carolina State (3-2) took advantage of four Huskie turnovers to notch a 24-17 victory Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium.
NIU outgained the hosts 279-171 and had a 20-11 edge in first downs. The Huskies defense held NCSU to 63 yards rushing and 1 of 11 on third down conversions.
The Huskies were 7 of 17 on third down thanks, in part, to 120 yards rushing. Antario Brown provided 114 of those yards on 28 carries.
Quarterback Ethan Hampton connected on 14 of 29 passes for 158 yards with one TD and two picks. Andrew McElroy and Cam Thompson combined for six receptions, 90 yards and a TD.
The game was tied at 7-7 after one period, but NCSU went in front on a 2-yard fumble return, followed by a Kanoah Vinesett 37-yard field goal.
Hampton hit Thompson with a 6-yard TD just before the half, pulling NIU within three (17-14).
A total of 10 points were scored after intermission. North Carolina State tallied on a third quarter TD pass. The Huskies could only manage three more on a Kanon Woodill 50-yard field goal at 14:46 of the final quarter.
EAST HARTFORD, CT. -- UConn's offense piled up 537 yards, while the defense held visiting Buffalo to 1 of 14 on third down in a 47-3 Huskies victory Saturday at Pratt & Whitney Stadium.
Buffalo's only score of the contest was a 47-yard Upton Bellenfant field goal as time expired in the first half. That made it a 23-3 game. UConn added 24 unanswered points during the final two stanzas.
Bulls quarterback C.J. Ogbonna completed 12 of 25 passes totaling 82 yards. He also ran 14 times for a net of 38 yards. Gunnar Gray also saw action, connecting on 4 of 11 attempts for 41 yards with one interception.
Red Murdock (14 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFL) and Shaun Dolac (10 tackles, 1 sack, 1 TFL) led the Buffalo defense.
UB's Ethan Duane punted 10 times, averaging 44.6 yards with a long of 58.

OXFORD, OH -- Dom Dzioban's time had come.
After waiting in the wings behind 2023 Lou Groza Award winner Graham Nicholson, Dzioban stepped on center stage in the closing moments of Miami's homecoming tilt against UMass Saturday at Yager Stadium. Not only did he save the Miami moment with a game-tying 47-yard field goal as time expired, he followed that with a 43-yard boot in overtime to seal a 23-20 come-from-behind victory.
Miami's second overtime win in two years (UC last year) was its first victory of 2024 ... and it came very close to slipping away on a rainy day when UMass quarterback Taisun Phommachanh put his team in a position to win with 10 fourth quarter points.
