Bowling Green got everybody's attention last week by storming back from a 21-7 halfime deficit to upset rival Toledo 38-23. The Falcons can could move to 2-1 in MAC play this week with a win over visiting Central Michigan.
The Chippewas had last week off but could still be smarting from a 28-22 loss at Akron back on Oct. 4. That ended a two-game win streak.and left CMU as one of five MAC teams with a 1-1 league record.
• • • • • CENTRAL MICHIGAN (3-3, 1-1 MAC) is ranked eighth among MAC teams in both scoring offense (21.8 ppg) and scoring defense (28.8 ppg).
• The Chippewas offense is third (MAC) is rushing (188.5 ypc) and 11th in passing (150.2 ypg).
• CMU's top two rushers are both averaging at least 5.0 ypg. Quarterback Angel Flores (5.0 ypc) has a team-high 77 carries totaling 384 yards (4 TDs). Nahree Biggins (5.1 ypc) has logged 54 trips for 278 yards(1 TD).
• As a passer, Flores has completed 16 od 24 attempts (66.7%) for a total of 119 yards with two scores. Senior Joe Labas, meanwhile, has 58 completions on 83 throws (69.9%), good for 694 yards with five TDs and one interception.
• Central Michigan has thrown seven TDs and been intercepted just once in 122 pass attempts.
• The Chippewas are coming off a 28-22 loss to Akron two weeks ago. CMU led 10-7 in the second quarter. However, UA scored three straight TDs before Akron scored the game's final 12 points.
• Cade Graham converted all three field goal attempts, including a long of 47.
• • • • • BOWLING GREEN (3-3, 1-1 MAC) split a tough MAC opening schedule -- losing to Ohio (35-20) Sept. 27 and defeating Toledo 28-23 last week.
• Although Bowling Green won, Toledo outgained the Falcons 429-226 and owned a 23-10 edge in first downs.
• BGSU had just 61 yards rushing against the Rockets. However, UT was penalized 13 times for 109 yards. Bo-wling Green drew seven flags totaling 55 yards.
• Lucian Anderson III completed nine of 16 passes.for 92 yards with two TDs and one interception. Forty-five of the yards came on a TD pass to Cameron Pettaway for the Falcons first score.
• WR RJ Garcia II tied the game at 21-all with a 73-yard pass play to Pettaway.
• Pettaway finished the day with two catches for 118 yards and two TDs.
• Bowling Green ranks seventh among MAC teams in scoring offense (22.3 ppg) and is sixth in scoring defense (25.3 ppg).
• The Falcons offense is ninth in rushing (140.7 ypg) and 11th in passing (165.8 ypg)

After two weeks on the road, Miami returns to Yager Stadium Saturday when it hosts Eastern Michigan. Kickoff is scheduled for noon and the game will be shown on ESPN+.
In last year's meeting, Brett Gabbert threw four touchdowns for Miami in a 38-14 victory over Eastern Michigan at Rynearson Stadium. Miami's defense added a pair of turnovers and held EMU to 18.4 points under its season average. Eli Blakey posted a career-high 18 tackles, while Corban Hondru added 16 stops.

Last week's loss to rival Bowling Green has the Toledo Rockets in a hole. Now 1-2 in Mid-American Conference play, UT needs to get back in the win column and stay there. Certainly, they are heavily favored this week as they host Kent State.
The Flashes are coming off a lop-sided 42-6 win over UMass last Saturday. That stopped a four-game losing streak and left KSU with a 1-1 MAC mark.
• • • • • TOLEDO (3-3, 1-2 MAC) leads the MAC in scoring offense (33.7 ppg) and total offense (440.2 ypg).
• The Rocket offense ranks first in rushing (204.5 ypg) and passing (235.7 ypg).
• UT is also first in scoring defense (15.0 ppg) and total defense (224.2 ypg).
• QB Tucker Gleason completed 19 of 30 passes (264 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) against Bowling Green. On the year, he has connected on 62.8 percent with eight TDs and four interceptions.
• Senior Chip Trayanum l(5-11, 227) eads all MAC rushers. He is averaging 100.2 ypg and 5.8 ypc. Junior Vandeross III (37 catches) is tied for second among MAC receivers. He is averaging 80.0 ypg.
• • • • • KENT STATE (2-4, 1-1 MAC) tallied 14 first half points and added 21 more in the third quarter of its 42-6 win over UMass last week. The Minutemen were limited to a pair of second quarter field goals on the scoreboard.
• UMass rushed for just 44 yards, averaging 1.3 ypc against KSU.
• Kent State played turnover-free football while forcing two Minutemen turnovers.
• Freshman Dru DeShields completed 10 of 18 passes totaling 148 yards with four touchdowns.
• Four different receivers caught TD passes. Dashawn Martin had three catches for a total of 43 yards and a score.
• KSU ranks ninth in scoring offense (19.2 ppg) and is 12th/last in scoring defense (37.7 ppg)..
• The Flashes offense is 12th in rushing (85.7 ypg) and fifth in passing (185.5 ypg).
It was ohhhhh-so-close, but the Buffalo Bulls pulled out a 31-30 overtime victory over Eastern Michigan last week. That moved UB to 2-0 in MAC play. Although its still early, the Bulls are one of just three MAC teams without a conference loss.
It's a different story for UMass, which has yet to win a game in 2025 and is riding a 10-game losing streak dating back to November of last year.
• • • • • MASSACHUSETTS (0-6, 0-2 MAC) rejoined the Mid-American Conference this year but has yet to win a game.
• The Minutemen have scored more than seven points twice -- once in a 42-10 Week 1 loss to Temple and again the following week when UMass was nipped by Bryant 27-26.
• UMass' most recent losses were to Western Michigan (21-3) and Kent State (42-6).
• Things went sideways early last week as Kent State's DaRealyst Clark ran the opening kickoff back 91 yards for a touchdown. The Flashes led 14-0 after one period, 21-6 at intermission and 42-6 after three periods. Neither team scored in the final stanza.
• Derek Morris provided UMass with its only points, booting two field goals, including a long of 39 yards.
• Freshman quarterback AJ Hairston completed 26 of 48 pass attempts totaling 227 yards with one interception.
• KSU recorded four sacks and 13 TFL. The Minutemen registered one sack and five TFL.
• Jake McConnachie and Donnie Gray combined for 13 receptions and 127 yards. Reece Adkins added two for 54 yards, including a 51-yard gain.
• Junior linebacker Timmy Hinspeter ranks third among MAC defenders with 65 tackles.
• • • • • BUFFALO (3-3, 2-0 MAC) and Eastern Michigan traded scores -- touchdown for touchdown and field goal for field goal -- over four quarters. After UB opened overtime with a TD and 1-point PAT, the Eagles responded with a touchdown and 2-point try. When the try failed, Buffalo owned a victory.
• Bulls quarterback Ta'Quan Roberson completed 19 of 38 passes, good for 272 yards with three TDs.
• WR Victor Snow caught six balls for 136 yards and two scores. The junior is second among MAC receivers in touchdowns (5). He is fifth in total receptions (29).
• Snow also scored on a 9-yard run in overtime against EMU.
• Senior Al-Jay Henderson logged 16 carries for 81 yards against EMU.
• Buffalo ranks third among MAC teams in scoring offense (25.2 ppg) and is fifth in scoring defense (21.3 ppg).
• The Buffalo offense is fourth in rushing (166.2 ypg) and sixth in passing (184.7 ypg).
• The Bulls offense has surrendered just 20 sacks (No. 1 MAC). Miami is second with 42 sacks.
• UB's defense has registered 17 sacks - two behind Miami and 11 behind Western Michigan (with one more game).
• Buffalo leads the league in punting with a Net/P of 43.1 yards.
The last two weeks have been a roller coaster for Ball State. After upseting Ohio 20-14 Oct. 4, the Cardinals were stampeded by Western Michigan's Broncos 42-0 last Saturday.
Akron, meanwhile, is also 1-1 over its last two outings. The Zips defeated Central Michigan 28-22 Oct. 4 and then fell to visiting Miami 20-7 last week.
For what it's worth, the UA-BSU matchup is in Muncie, and Ball State is 2-0 at Scheumann Stadium so far in 2025.
• • • • • BALL STATE (2-4, 1-1 MAC) stumbled hard in last week's loss at Western Michigan. The Cardinals totaled 88 yards of offense and managed just five first downs. WMU registered 25 first downs and 461 yards of offense.
• Western Michigan recorded five sacks and 10 TFL against BSU.
• After thowing for 185 yards and a TD in the win over Ohio, senior QB Kiael Kelly completed 13 of 22 for 68 passing yards last week.
• Ball State totaled 20 yards on 27 rushing attempts against WMU.
• The Cardinals rank 11th among MAC teams in scoring offense (13.7 ppg) and are 10th in scoring defense (31.5 ppg).
• The Ball State offense is 10th (MAC) in rushing and 12th in pasing (124.0 ypg).
• • • • • AKRON (2-5, 1-2 MAC) missed chances for 10 first half points but still trailed visiting Miami 3-0 at intermission last week. The RedHawks seized momentum with 14 third quarter points and led 20-0 before a late Zips TD.
• Akron drew 10 penalties for a total of 60 yards.
• Senior Ben Finley completed 21 of 39 pass attempts, good for 211 yards with one TD and one pick.
• Kyan Mason topped UA receivers with five catches for 52 yards. Israel Polk recorded a TD among his five receptions for 28 yards.
• Junior RB Jordan Gant led Zip rushers with 14 carries for 35 yards. Overall, UA totaled 62 yards on the ground.
• Akron ranks 10th among MAC teams in scoring (16.7 ppg) and is ninth in scoring defense (29.0 ppg).
• The UA offense is 11th in rushing (129.3 ypg) and seventh in passing (182.4 ypg).
The NIU Huskies are on a roll. Unfortunately for Huskie fans, that roll is a five-game losing streak. Avoiding a sixth-straight loss won't be easy as Northern Illinois travels to Athens for a matchup against Ohio.
The Bobcats had a bye last Saturday, but they may still be stinging from a 20-14 upset loss to Ball State back on Oct. 4. That left Ohio at 1-1 in conference play with several tough matchups ahead on the schedule. Especially on Ohio turf, and coming off a bye week, the 'Cats are not likely to stumble versus NIU.
• • • • • NORTHERN ILLINOIS (1-5, 0-2 MAC) is coming off a 16-10 loss at Eastern Michigan. After trailing 6-3 at intermission, NIU took the lead with Tellly Johnson's 80-yard TD run late in the third quarter. EMU reclaimed te lead with a TD midway through the fourth quarter and added a field goal for the 16-10 final.
• The Huskies did not draw a penalty in the loss.
• NIU outgained the Eagles 332-296 overall.
• Most of the Huskies offense came on the ground, with NIU totaling 238 rushing yards. Johnson led the way with 12 carries totaling 159 yards.
• QB Brady Davidson completed 11 of 26 passes for 94 yards with one interception..
• NIU's only win this year was a 19-17 victory over Holy Cross in the season opener. In the five subsequent games, Northern Illinois has not scored more than 14 points.
• The Huskies rank 12 (of 13 MAC teams) in scoring offense (10.8 ppg). They are third in scoring defense (20.3 ppg).
• The Northern Illinois offense is fifth in rushing (157.8 ypg). It is 13th/last in passing (99.8 ypg).
• • • • • OHIO (3-3, 1-1 MAC) led Ball State 14-0 at halftime but could not score again. The Cardinals struck for 10 points in each of the final two quarters to pull out a 20-14 upset win.
• Quarterback Parker Navarro completed 16 of 29 passes totaling 188 yards with one TD. He also led Ohio rushing with 77 yards on 13 carries. Sieh Bangura averaged 4.5 ypc while picking up 67 yards on 15 rushes.
• Chase Hendricks topped Ohio receiving with eight catches for 104 yards. Rodney Harris recorded four catches for 58 receiving yards with one TD.
• Hendricks leads the MAC in receiving yards (585) and is tied for second in total receptions (37).
• Navarro leads the league in total offense (277.3 ypg).
• As a team, the Bobcats are second in total offense (408.8 ypg) and eighth in total defense (401.3 ypg).
• The Ohio offense is second in both rushing (194.7 ypg) and passing (214.2 ypg).
