MOUNT PLEASANT, MI -- Toledo's defense continued its late-season dominance Friday as the Rockets defeated Central Michigan (7-5, 5-3 MAC) 21-3 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Toledo (8-4, 6-2 MAC) trailed 3-0 at intermission, but produced 21 unanswered points in the second half. Chip Trayanum scored two of those touchdowns. The first was on a 57-yard pass from Kalieb Osborne. After Kenji Christian's 9-yard TD run midway through the fourth quarter, Trayanum ripped off a 42-yard run with 1:49 left in the contest.
NOTES
• The senior led UT rushing (205 yards) with 16 carries for 94 yards. Kalieb Osborn added 52 yards on 12 trips.
• Toledo quarterbacks Osborne and Tucker Gleason combined for 14 completions onf 24 atempts, yielding 204 yards and a TD.
Junior Vandeross led UT receivers with four ctches for 71 yards.
• Central Michigan was held to 81 rushing yards on 36 carries. Brock Townsend led the way with 14 carries for 68 yards.
• Chippewas QB Joe Labas connected on 19 of 30 passes, totaling 242 yards with one INT.
Tommy McIntosh and Langston Lewis combined for 12 catches, 154 yards.
• Both teams are bowl eligible and will await news on an invitation.
