Ron Cook, Buffalo, Running Back
Senior, Washington, DC (St. John's College)
Cook rushed for a career-high 118 yards and the game-winning touchdown in a 34-27 win over Toledo. The senior running back averaged 6.6 yards per carry. He scored on a 30-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter to give the Bulls the lead for good after trailing by 17 heading into the fourth quarter. Cook added three receptions for 40 yards in the game.
MAC East Division Defensive Player of the Week
Marcus Fuqua, Buffalo, Safety
Junior, Southfield, MI (Southfield A&T)
Marcus Fuqua tied an FBS-era program record with three interceptions against Toledo on Saturday. He played a key role in sparking a comeback win over the Rockets. After making his first interception at the end of the second quarter, the junior safety made two interceptions in the fourth quarter that led to points and helped the Bulls rally from a 17-point deficit. His second interception led to the Bulls' go-ahead touchdown. His third interception led to a UB field goal with 47 seconds left that extended the lead to seven points and help ice the game for the Bulls. Fuqua added four tackles in the game.
MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week
Sami Sir, Bowling Green, Punter
Freshman, Melbourne, Australia (Essendon Keilor College)
Helped flip the field for the Falcons all game. Had three of his six punts (42.2 avg.) pinned CMU inside its own 10-yard line. A fourth punt was looked to be downed inside the five-yard line before the coverage team knocked into the end zone for a TB. Perfectly hung a punt that the coverage team forced a fumble that BGSU recovered and scored a field goal.
MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week
Sean Tyler, Western Michigan, RB
Junior, Richton Park, Ill. (Rich Central)
Tyler carried the offensive load for the Broncos in their 16-10 win at Miami. He had a season-high 22 carries and a season-high 110 yards on the ground. His 20-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter proved to be the deciding score of the game in the Broncos' victory.
MAC West Division Defensive Player of the Week
Corvin Moment, Western Michigan, Linebacker
Senior, Vero Beach, Fla. (Vero Beach)
Moment led a dominant performance by the WMU defense in its win at Miami. Moment had seven tackles and a career-high 3.5 sacks. His 3.5 sacks resulted in 20 yards lost by Miami. Moment was a big factor in holding Miami to just 2-for-13 on third downs and holding the RedHawks to just 305 yards of offense.
MAC West Division Special Teams Player of the Week
Palmer Domschke, Western Michigan, Kicker
Freshman, Bolingbrook, Ill. (Nequa Valley)
Domschke hit three crucial field goals in WMU's 16-10 win at Miami. He got the Broncos on the board with 3:50 left in the second quarter, connecting on a career-long 52-yard field goal to tie it up at 3-3. He then gave WMU the lead as time expired in the first half on a 46-yard field goal. With a 13-3 lead late in the third quarter, he extended it to 16-3 on a 37-yarder.
