Updates and notes on all 12 MAC teams . . . (Click Read More)
AKRON
Behind yet another all-around effort from senior guard Jimond Ivey (Cleveland, Ohio) the Akron Zips remained undefeated at home in Mid-American Conference play with a 70-67 win over the Central Michigan Chippewas Tuesday evening at James A. Rhodes Arena. Junior guard Tyler Cheese (Albany, Ga.) led all players in both points and rebounds, registering a career-high 20-point, 12-rebound performance for his first career double-double. The Zips are back in action when they host a return matchup against Northern Illinois on Jan. 26

BALL STATE
Ball State (11-8 overall) dropped to 2-4 in MAC play Tuesday with its third straight home loss, this one a 71-65 setback to Miami. The Cardinals, who entered the night seventh in the country in field goal percentage, shot just below 41 percent and made only 1-of-11 from beyond the arc. K.J. Walton led Ball State with 16 points, while Tahjai Teague scored 15. Moses and Persons finished with 11 points each.

BOWLING GREEN
Bowling Green, the only remaining undefeated team in MAC play, is 6-0 within the Mid-American Conference for the first time since 1961-62. BGSU is winning MAC games by an average of 16.0 points – the highest mark in the league. BGSU’s current 10-game run marks just the third time over the last 55 years that the program has experienced at least a 10-game winning streak. The Orange and Brown experienced a 12-game winning
streak in 2001-02, and a 10-game winning streak in 1979-80. The Falcons lead the country in rebounds per game at 44.2. Bowling Green has won the battle on the glass in 14-consecutive games. BGSU’s plus-10.2 rebound margin ranks fifth-best in the nation.

BUFFALO
The Bulls wrap up a two-game road trip on Friday night at Kent State, looking to get back in the win column after suffering their first MAC defeat on Tuesday night.  Kent State was one of three teams to defeat the Bulls in league play last year, but UB has won nine of the last 11 in the series. Buffalo will be the first ranked team to play at the M.A.C. Center since #20 Ball State on Feb. 22, 1989. Buffalo is 22-4 in its last 26 MAC games dating back to the end of the 2016-17 season.  UB has lost those four games by a combined 10 points. UB moved up to 14th in the latest AP Top 25 rankings on Monday, the 11th straight week the Bulls have been in the polls. The 11 straight weeks tie the MAC record for most consecutive weeks ranked with Bowling Green, who did it in the 1961-62 season.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN
Larry Austin Jr.'s 17 second-half points fueled a strong comeback attempt by Central Michigan but the Chippewas ultimately came up short, falling 70-67 to Akron at the Zips' James A. Rhodes Arena Tuesday. Austin finished with a team-high 19 points and six rebounds. Rob Montgomery earned his first career double-double, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds. CMU will finish out a two-game road swing on Saturday when it travels to MAC West rival Toledo for a 7 p.m. matchup at the Rockets' Savage Arena.

EASTERN MICHIGAN
The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team hits the road to take on in-state rival Western Michigan University Saturday, Jan. 26. The Eagles dropped its most recent game against Bowling Green State University inside the Convocation Center, Jan. 22, by a 80-67 final. Senior James Thompson IV is the NCAA's active career rebound leader with 1,302 during his three-plus seasons with Eastern. The Baton Rouge, La. native needs 125 boards to pass all-time EMU record holder Kennedy McIntosh. He is also first in the NCAA in active career double-doubles with 67 and trails the all-time leader by 11.
KENT STATE
For the first time since 1989, the Kent State men's basketball team will host a ranked opponent when No. 14 Buffalo visits the M.A.C. Center on Friday night, Jan. 25. Kent State improved to 15-4 in conference play after defending home court with an 87-85 overtime win over Toledo. The Flashes were down as much as 17 points in the second half and used a late 13-3 run that tied the game 79-79 to force overtime. Kent State had three Flashes score in double-figures with senior Jaylin Walker leading the way with 36 points and five rebounds.

MIAMI
The Miami University men's basketball team returns to Millett Hall as part of the third annual One Miami Weekend as it hosts Mid-American Conference leader Bowling Green Saturday. The RedHawks hold an 83-57 lead in the all-time series with the Falcons. The teams split their two meetings last season with each winning on the road. After grabbing another five steals in the RedHawks' win over Ball State on Tuesday, senior guard Darrian Ringo now ranks 11th in the nation with 64 total steals. His 2.58 steals per game average ranks 12th.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS
Northern Illinois earned its first victory over a ranked opponent since February 3, 1973 in their win over #14 Buffalo on Tuesday night. Freshman Trendon Hankerson found junior Noah McCarty for a layup with 0.6 seconds to play to upset Buffalo, 77-75.  Senior Dante Thorpe scored a team-high 23 points and junior Eugene German posted his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. NIU will head on the road on Saturday, January 26, as the Huskies visit Akron before opening a three-game homestand on Tuesday, January 29 against Ohio.

OHIO
Behind a team-high 16 points from senior guard/forward Gavin Block, and a career-high nine assists from freshman guard Jason Preston, the Ohio men's basketball team (10-8, 2-4 MAC) would recover from an early 14-point deficit, defeating Western Michigan, 81-76, Tuesday evening inside the Convocation Center. After a slow start, Ohio registered a 53.8 percent field goal percentage going 14-of-26 from the field – including 7-of-14 from three-point range. Up next, the Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Jan. 26 when Ohio serves as host to Ball State. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside the Convocation Center.

TOLEDO
Toledo (15-4, 3-3 MAC) led by as many as 17 points in the second half before Kent State rallied to defeat the Rockets in overtime on Tuesday night. Toledo was led by junior center Luke Knapke's career-high 22 points. Sanford added 17 points, senior forward Nate Navigato had 16 and sophomore guard Marreon Jackson chipped in with 15. Jackson tied his career high with four steals for the second time in three games. The Rockets will looke to bounce back as they host Central Michigan in a 7:00 p.m. tipoff on Saturday in Savage Arena.

WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan men's basketball fell to Ohio, 81-76 on Tuesday night at the Convocation Center. Dugan registered his team leading seventh double-double of the season and second game with at least 15 or more rebounds. It's the 13th time this season the senior center has scored in double figures and the sixth game he has eclipsed the 20-point mark.    The Broncos will look to earn their first conference victory Saturday as they face Eastern Michigan in Kalamazoo.
