With their win, the Flashes advance to Friday's semifinal matchup against No. 2 seeded Miami. The RedHawks defeated Eastern Michigan in Game Three earlier Thursday.
It was the third staight win and fourth in five games for KSU.
KSU and WMU were tied at 16 midway through the first half. Barnett's jumper at 9:38 moved Kent State in front and the Flashes quickly expanded their lead to 18 points (43-25) by intermission.
Western Michigan battled back and . . .
Jalen Sullinger's 3-pointer at 6:52 capped a 10-0 run for KSU, but the Broncos put together one more rally. Chaunsey Willis Jr's layup with 54 seconds left brought WMU with three (69-66). However, KSU scored the game's last four points.
Joining Barnett in double figures for Kent State were Sullinger (13), Cian Medley (13) and Delrecco Gillespie (10 points, 10 rebounds).
Lobsinger topped Western Michigan with 16 points, followed by Willis Jr and Donovan Williams with 12 apiece.
