Saturday's winner of the Ball State at Akron match-up will put that program up a game in the all-time series. Both schools own 11 wins, with one game ending in a tie. The Zips pulled out last year's meeting and will attempt to make it two straight in the series while gaining some momentum in MAC play. UA is coming off a win over Bowling Green last week.

That 34-21 decision . . .

. . . ended a few losing streaks for the Blue and Gold:
-- a two-game losing skid overall
-- an eight-game streak to the Falcons
-- an 11-game streak against Football Bowl Subdivision teams.

As for the Ball State Cardinals, they had won two of their last three games before heading into Kalamazoo to face the defending conference champion Western Michigan Broncos. WMU dominated the visiting Cardinals, 55-3.
