Will this be the week that Eastern Michigan finally ends up on the winning side of the final score?
Odds aren’t with the Eagles, who face MAC West co-leader Northen Illinois in Dekalb Thursday. The Huskies (5-2, 3-0 MAC) have won three straight and five of their last six outings. The only loss over the past six games was to No. 19 San Diego State.
After a scary 14-13 win over . . .
The Eagles have lost five straight – all by seven or less points and two in overtime. Still another was a 28-27 loss when a two-point conversion failed in the game’s final minute.
This year’s contest brings together two of the MAC’s better defenses. EMU and NIU hold the top two ranks among MAC teams in total, scoring and first down defense.
Eastern ranks first in the MAC in pass defense and fourth down situations, while Northern sits atop the conference in rushing defense, interceptions, sacks and third down defense.
