
The Golden Eagles have . . .
One challenge for the Golden Eagles will be trying to harness Ball States potent offense. At the same time, Tech will try to get more out of its offense. It has scored 14 points in each of TTU’s first two games – both losses (Western Illinois, 41-14 and Kennesaw State, 27-14).

● TTU is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and finished third last season with a 5-3 conference mark (5-6 overall). A preseason media poll predicted the Eagles to finish fifth out of nine teams in 2017.
● Tech returns five starters on offense and six on defense.
● The Eagles trailed Kennesaw State 27-0 last week before scoring a pair of TDs in the final period.
● Quarterback Andre Sale (31 of 42 for 297 yards) connected with D.J. Wilkes on passes of 13 and 23 yards for Tech’s TDs. They were his only catches of the game.
● Dontez Byrd recorded a team-high 10 catches for 109 yards.
● KSU took advantage of three Eagle turnovers, using them on the way to 17 of 27 total points. TTU actually had five total turnovers (3 INT and 2 fumbles).
● Tech owned 10 more first downs (28-18) than Kennesaw State.
● Linebacker Aderick Moore led TTU defenders with 13 tackles (10 solo).
● Andrew Goldsmith carried nine times for 57 of the Eagles 123 rushing yards.
● BSU exceeded 50 points for the first time since 2013 in defeating UAB last week, 51-31.
● Ball State led by just seven points against UAB late in the third quarter. Malik Dunner, however, returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and BSU scored 21 straight points to break the game open.
● The Cardinals outgained UAB 504-377 and were plus-2 in turnover margin.
● Ball State tanks among the nation’s leaders in third down conversion percentage (4th) and time of possession (11th).
● Riley Neal completed 23 of 34 passes for 217 yards and two TDs. For the season, Neal has completed 64.7 percent of his attempts (44 of 68) with three TDs and 1 interception. He has been sacked three times.
● All-MAC returnee James Gilbert has been the ground game workhorse, carrying 37 times for 115 yards with three scores. Freshman Caleb Huntley (5-10, 225) has also been an impact player, gaining 131 yards on 18 carries with one TD.
● Wide receiver is the offensive unit with the most turnover from last season. Freshman Justin Hall the group with 10 receptions for 130 yards and one TD.
● Senior defensive end Anthony Winbush leads the naton with 4.5 sacks and also has 7.0 tackles for loss through two games.
● Jacob White owns a team high 14 tackles, one ahead of Winbush.
