● After falling behind 7-0 at Northwestern, the Wolfpack scored 17 straight points to lead by 10 at the break. Nevada, however, managed just three points the rest of the way. Northwestern went in front for good with a TD at 5:28 of the final period and added one more touchdown in the final minute.
● Northwestern out-gained the visitors 508-341 and held the ball for over 17 more minutes.
● Quarterback Ty Gangi completed 16 of 37 passes for 199 yards with two TDs and one pick.
● McLane Mannix had just two catches, but totaled 76 yards, including one TD. Wyatt Demps (1 TD) and Kaleb Fossum combined for nine receptions and 87 yards.
● The Wolf Pack averaged 5.5 ypc on 26 rushing attempts for 142 yards. Jaxson Kincade led the way with 15 totes for 86 yards.
● LB Austin Paulus (15 tackles, 7 solo , 3.5 tfl) and DB Dameron Baber (11 tackles, 7 solo) paced the Nevada defense.
● UT scored the most points in a season opener since 54 against New Hampshire in 2014.
● Toledo totaled 553 yards of total offense, including 314 passing yards by quarterback Logan Woodside. The senior completed 19 of 31 attempts, although none were for a score.
● Cody Thompson (5 catches, 112 yards) and Diontae Johnson (4 catches, 102 yards) had the biggest days among receivers. The latter broke the game open with a 99-yard kickoff return to start the second half.
