Simmons was named to the 2016-17 National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 14 First Team last week. He garnered First Team recognition after being named to the Second Team as a redshirt sophomore in 2015-16.
A 2017 First Team All-Mid-American Conference pick, Simmons started all 31 games for the Bobcats this season. He led Ohio in scoring (15.9 points per game; 492 points), assists (6.5 assists per game; 200 assists), field goals made (5.7 field goals made per game; 176 field goals made); field goals attempted (13.1 field goals attempted per game; 406 field goals attempted), free throws made (3.3 free throws made per game; 103 free throws made), free throws attempted (4.6 free throws attempted per game; 142 free throws attempted) and minutes played (36.0 minutes played per game; 1,116 minutes). He ranks eighth in the nation in assists per game, and his 200 assists rank as the sixth-most in a single season in program history. He led Ohio in assists in a team-high 28 contests. Simmons also reached double figures in points a team-high 27 times and scored at least 20 points in a game on a team-high eight occasions.
