The Owls may still be stirred up after losing to local rival Villanova 19-17 in their opener. Trailing through much of the contest, Temple moved in front 17-13 with a third quarter touchdown. However, Villanova struck for a winning TD midway through the final period and held Temple off the rest of the way.

TEMPLE OWLS (0-1)
➤➤ A significant part of Temple’s problems were on offense. The Owls were outgained 406-251 overall. Villanova also owned a 26-16 advantage in first downs.
➤➤ Temple registered just one offensive touchdown -- a 15-yard reception by Isaiah Wright. Previous points came from a 46-yard field goal by Aaron Boumerhi and Kimere Brown’s 74-yard return of a blocked field goal.
➤➤ Senior quarterback Frank Nutile completed 18 of 32 passes for 185 yards with one TD and two interceptions.
➤➤ Sophomore Branden Mack (7 catches, 78 yards) and senior Ventell Bryant (5 catches, 56 yards) topped Temple receivers.
➤➤ Senior Ryquell Armstead rushed 14 times for 31 yards, while Temple totaled just 46 yards on 22 carries.
➤➤ Linebackers Shaun Bradley and Chapelle Russell each registered 10 tackles to lead the Owls defensive effort. Junior LB Sam Franklin picked off one Villanova aerial.
➤➤ A preseason American Athletic Conference media poll tabbed Temple for fifth among six teams in the AAC East Division.
BUFFALO BULLS (1-0)
➤➤ Quarterback Tyree Jackson tossed three touchdown passes in the first quarter against Delaware State. He then added two more before halftime and another in the third quarter. Overall, he was 17 of 27 for 189 yards and six touchdowns.
➤➤ Standout WR Anthony Johnson caught four balls for 57 yards and one TD.
➤➤ Linebackers Matt Otwinowski and Khalil Hodge combined for 18 tackles.
➤➤ Senior corner Devon Russell picked off one Delaware State pass.
