UB Stadium -- Amherst, NY
Delaware State was 2-9 in 2017 and owns a 3-30 record over the last three campaigns.
Here’s more on the Hornets . . .
>> Former Delaware State player Rod Milstead begins his first season as head coach of his alma mater. After finishing his collegiate career, he went on to play professionally for the San Francisco 49ers, earning a Super Bowl ring along the way.
>> Delaware State registered two wins against nine losses in 2017. The last win was 33-30 over Morgan State. However, the Hornets finished the season at Florida State. That didn’t go as well -- 77-6. The 33 points against MSU was Delaware State’s highest point production of the season. DSU’s other win was also by three points -- 17-14 over South Carolina State in game seven.
>> Keenan Black and Jack McDaniels split QB duties last year, but they combined for over 2300 yards and 16 touchdowns.
>> Trey Cross tallied seven touchdowns last year as a freshman.
>> Mike Waters could have a bounceback year after battling injury in 2017. He owned 820 rushing yards as a freshman in 2016. However, the offensive and defensive lines have some questions to answer.
>> Defensive back Keyjuan Selby was a Second Team All MEAC member last year. DB Jahad Neibauer led the Hornets in tackles, while Brian Cavicante registered 10 TFLs among his 74 stops.
>> Running back Shawn Wood is a transfer from Pitt who could help DSU.
