Glass Bowl -- Toledo, OH
Series: Toledo leads 34-1
The Rockets gained 138 rushing yards overall, but they also surrendered 374 yards to Ball State ballcarriers, who averaged 7.48 ypc.
Bradley, a freshman quarterback, had a tough day against BSU, which held him to 41.2 percent on completions and 137 passing yards. He was sacked four times and intercepted once.
Eastern Michigan also fell to Ball State -- one week earlier. However, the Eagles managed to stay within one score, eventually falling 29-23. EMU, in fact, led 23-14 before the Cardinals scored two touchdowns to close scoring.
Last week, it was the Eagles who came back. Down 14-3 early, EMU came back to take a lead. The two teams then traded leads until Matthew Sexton scored on a 343-yard pass from Preston Hutchinson with 36 seconds left. Jairus Grissom scored on a two-point try for the final 34-27 margin.
As close as the score was, Eastern Michigan enjoyed a substantial 547-359 advantage in total offense. The big difference was EMU’s 407 passing yards to 192 through the air for Western.
Hutchinson earned MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors after completing 31 of 36 passes for 357 yards with three touchdowns. The sophomore had previously thrown just five passes.
