The victory gave the Rockets their fourth 20-win season in the last six years and was UT's eighth victory in last nine outings.
Senior Jaelan Sanford also tallied his first double-double as a Rockets with 12 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Senior Nate Navigato, senior Luke Knapke and junior Willie Jackson also were in double digits with 14, 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Sanford's work on the boards helped UT outrebound the Falcons, 43-38. Bowling Green entered the contest ranked ninth nationally with a plus-8.0 rebounding margin, while UT was the top rebounding team in conference play.
Toledo limited the Falcons to a 38.8 field-goal percentage, including a 5-of-27 effort (18.5 percent) from three-point range. The Rockets were more efficient shooting, finishing with a 46.6 FG% and a 10-of-29 outing (34.5 percent) from three-point range. UT also outperformed BGSU at the charity stripe, sinking 14-of-17 attempts compared to the hosts' 14-of-22 totals.
Junior Dylan Frye paced the Falcons with 17 points but was 6-of-18 from the field. Senior Demajeo Wiggins notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Toledo returns to action on Friday, Feb. 15 with a home matchup vs. No. 23 Buffalo. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
The first half featured nine lead changes and five occasions when the score was tied with Toledo taking a 35-33 lead into the locker room.
Bowling Green jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Rockets responded with an 8-2 spurt on a pair of baskets from Willie Jackson and Nate Navigato.
Toledo took its largest lead, 15-10, with just under 12 minutes left in the first half after Chris Darrington made two of three free throws after being fouled on a three-point shot.
Bowling Green went on a 7-0 run to take a 21-18 advantage at the 8:16 mark.
Marreon Jackson hit a three 1:13 before halftime to put Toledo up by a 35-32 margin.
Navigato paced UT in the opening 20 minutes with nine points with Darrington contributing seven points.
SECOND HALF
The second half was a back-and-forth affair as well with six lead changes and three tied scores.
Toledo led for nearly the first 12 minutes in the second half and led by as many as seven points on two occasions after the Falcons had cut UT's lead to 50-49 with 12:59 to play.
Darrington registered a four-play to give the Rockets a 54-49 cushion at the 12:48 mark and a Willie Jackson layup increased UT's lead to 56-49 on its next possession.
A 9-0 Bowling Green spurt gave the Falcons their first led in the second half, 60-59, with just over eight minutes remaining.
The lead then changed hands four times over the next five minutes until Jaelan Sanford nailed a three-pointer to give UT the lead for good, 70-68, with 3:00 to play.
Following a Falcon free throw, Darrington scored the Rockets' next four points with a layup and two free throws for a 74-69 advantage.
