
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A pair of second quarter touchdowns put Middlle Tennessee in front and it traded third quarter field goals on the way to a 24-13 victory over visiting Bowling Green Saturday at Floyd Stadium.

Doege finished the first half with 200 passing yards while completing 15 of 20 attempts. One of the completions went to Scott Miller, who scored on a 60-yard play to knot the game at 7-7 with 5:09 remaining in the opening stanza. However, that was Bowling Green’s only touchdown on the day.
Two John Uruza touchdown passes – one for 64 yards and the other for one yard – more than offset a Falcon field goal in the second quarter.
Both teams managed just three points in the second half as the defenses dominated play.
Middle Tennessee had a big advantage in total yardage, 533-284. Most of that difference came on the ground as the hosts outgained BG 243-1. Jocquez Bruce (16 carries,115 yards, 1 TD) and Brad Anderson (16 carries, 104 yards) did most of the damage.
Doerge completed 21 of 35 attempts on the day, good for 283 yards with one Falcon score. His counterpart, Urzua, connected on 24 of 32 for 290 yards and two TDs, with one interception.
Bowling Green’s defense forced three Trojan turnovers. Armani Posey and Fred Garth led the Falcons with 11 tackles (10 solo) each.
Bowling Green fell to 0-4 with the loss and will seeks its first win of 2017 when it opens MAC play next week at home against Akron.
