Edu averaged 18.6 points, 14.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game this past year for South Gloucestershire & Stroud College. He earned first-team All-Elite Academy Basketball League West Conference honors as well as being named the West Conference's Defensive Player of the Year.
Edu was born in Cyprus and is a finalist for the Philippines Men's National Basketball Team and was part of the Philippine team that placed seventh in the 2017 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup in Chengdu, China. He also participated in the fourth-annual Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during this year's NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. The Basketball Without Borders event is a camp for the top 67 boys from 36 countries chosen by the NBA.
Edu joins 6-5, 190-pound guard Keshaun Saunders and 6-8, 200-pound forward T.J. Smith as part of the Rockets’ 2018-19 recruiting class.
