The Mountaineers nearly hit their average on the nose, building up a 20-0 halftime advantage and adding single touchdowns in each of the final two periods. Junior Jalin Moore accounted for three of four App State touchdowns while rushing for 125 yards on 22 carries (5.7 ypg). Overall, the Mountaineers piled up 327 yards and four touchdowns through the ground game.
Senior quarterback Taylor Lamb completed 8 of 16 passes for 131 yards, giving App State a total of 458 yards
Moore’s 7-yard TD run opened scoring with 4:06 left in the opening stanza. Moore’s second 7-yard run put the Moutaineers up 14-0 early in the second period. Chandler Staton followed with field goals of 29 and 23 yards before the break.
Moore’s 31-yard TD gallop at 8:31 of the third expanded Mountaineer’s lead and Malik Williams completed scoring with a 3-yard touchdown one play into the fourth quarter.
The Rockets final three possessions ended with a punt, interception and fumble.
