The victory kept UT (10-2 MAC, 16-9 overall) in second place among MAC teams -- one half game behind Akron pending Saturday's action. The Bobcats slipped to 7-5 MAC (13-12 overall).
"That was nothing short of a championship effort and a championship win," said Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk after the Rockets posted their 11th victory in last 12 meetings against the Bobcats. "It was situational basketball at the end of the game and all the things we work on, preach, teach and emphasize came to fruition tonight."
Maddox led Toledo with 21 points, while forward Javon Simmons registered a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds. Joining them in double figures were Raheim Moss (16 points), Tyler Cochran (13 points) and Sonny Wilson (12 points).

Both teams shot well. The Bobcats connected on 47.4 percent overall and 48 percent (12 of 25) on threes. Toledo was good of 48.5 percent oveall and 47.1 percent (8 of 17) from beyond the arc.
