Tournament MACtion gets underway on Thursday, March 14th with Game One set to tip-off at 11AM ET on ESPN+. The regular season champion Toledo Rockets hold the no. 1 seed and will take on Kent State in a rematch of the two teams' regular season finale. This marks the first integration of the new conference schedule format. This new model will allow for each team to face all 11 conference opponents home and away at least once during a three-year cycle. Additionally, the new format will incorporate protected opponents based on geographic location and rivalries and eliminates the MAC East and West Divisions. The MAC will release an updated schedule later this spring with game times and television for the first three weeks of the regular season and its midweek MACtion schedule. All remaining game times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game. Games will air on ESPN platforms (ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPN+) and CBS Sports Network. The 2024 conference season will kick off Saturday, September 21 with two contests as Central Michigan hosts Ball State, while Buffalo travels to Northern Illinois. The 28th MAC Football Championship game will be held on Saturday, December 7 (Time TBA) between the top two teams based on conference winning percentage. This will mark the 21st MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions. |
