DETROIT, Mich. – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced today the remainder of its expanded television sublicensing schedule with 20 additional games for the 2016 football season. Highlighting the schedule are five additional games that will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network.

Western Michigan gets nod in title game
DETROIT, MI – The Western Michigan Broncos and Bowling Green Falcons have been selected to win the West and East Divisions, respectively, in the 2016 Mid-American Conference Football Preseason Poll. The poll was announced at the league’s annual MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit and was determined by members of the league’s media members. Western Michigan was also selected to win the 2016 MAC Football Championship Game.

The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced the names of 40 “players to watch” for its 2016 Player of the Year award, the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.
Oklahoma senior quarterback Baker Mayfield, a First Team Walter Camp All-American in 2015, along with Clemson junior quarterback Deshaun Watson, a Second Team Walter Camp All-America selection a year ago, headline the 2016 Watch List. Mayfield accounted for 3,700 passing yards and 36 touchdowns for the Sooners, while Watson passed for 4,104 yards and 35 touchdowns for the Tigers.

Deshaun Watson of Clemson headlines the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List, which includes 30 of the nation’s top college quarterbacks. The junior is bidding to become the award’s first two-time winner since Oklahoma’s Jason White (2003-04). In addition, Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, one of three finalists a year ago, returns for his junior season.

The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes the outstanding receiver, not merely outstanding wide receiver.

The Jim Thorpe Award 2016 watch list includes 39 of the nation’s best defensive backs, representing ten conferences and includes the 2015 winner, Desmond King.
The Jim Thorpe Award is one of the most coveted awards in college football. The award was established in 1986 and is named after history’s greatest all-around athlete, Jim Thorpe. Seventy standout interior linemen from all 10 FBS conferences are represented on the 2016 Outland Trophy Watch, which was announced by the Football Writers Association of America.

Desmond King of Iowa, Shawun Lurry of Northern Illinois and Myles Garrett of Texas A&M headline the 2016 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List that includes 88 defensive standouts from all 10 Division I FBS conferences. King, Lurry and Garrett are the returning first-team Football Writers Association of America All-Americans.
