About Ball State:
► Although the Cardinals don’t bring a nine-game winning streak into Thursday (ala Western Michigan), they closed the campaign relatively strong. After losing three straight in early February, Ball State won five of its final six games to claim a piece of the MAC West title and a No. 4 seed in the tourney.
► The Cardinals lone loss down the stretch was at Western (80-55). BSU defeated Western in the first meeting, 84-78, back in late January.
► Guard Tayler Persons (Second Team) and forward Franko House (Third Team) both earned All-MAC honors. Trey Moses was picked for the All-Defensive Team.
► Persons (16.2 ppg) and House (14.5 ppg) are averaging double figures. Ryan Weber (9.8 ppg), Trey Moses (9.3 ppg) and Sean Seller (9.0 ppg) are just off of double digits. Moses leads the way in rebounds (8.4 rpg).
► Ball State ranks second among MAC teams in conference play field goal percentage (46.8%).
About Western Michigan:
► The Broncos enter tournament play as the MAC’s hottest team, having won their last nine games.
► Western pummeled Ball State 80-55 in their last meeting (Feb. 25). The Broncos connected on 8 of 14 treys (57.1%) in that contest. WMU leads the conference in MAC play 3-point goal percentage (39.3%).
► WMU ranks fifth in scoring margin (+2.5), while Ball State is seventh (+1.0). Likewise, the teams are also fifth and seventh, respectively in rebounding margin.
► Guard Thomas Wilder leads the Broncos with a 19.1 ppg average. He also earned All-MAC First Team honors. Forward Tucker Haymond (15.1 ppg) made the Third Team, while guard Reggie Jones (9.1 ppg) was tabbed for a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team.
► The last team to defeat WMU was Central Michigan back on Feb. 3. CMU also won its next game (against No. 2 seed Ohio) and did not win another game the rest of the season.
