The contest was part of the Detroit Subregional section of the 2018 Legends Classic. With the victory, BGSU moves to 3-2 on the season.
Hampton, the regular-season champions of the MEAC in 2017-18, went 13-for-28 (46.4 percent) from downtown, led by Jermaine Marrow's 29 points. Marrow was a preseason First Team All-Conference selection.
"We were in a great spot," said head coach Michael Huger on Bowling Green's final possession. "[By not taking a timeout] We didn't give them time to set up their defense. They had to go right with it. We had the ball in our best driver's hands, so it was a good situation for us and I just wanted to take advantage of it. We got a real good look at it, so that was nice. Demajeo had a real good look at the offensive rebound, and cleaned it up real nice."
