BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Quarterback Jarret Doege’s 7-yard pass to Quintin Morris proved to be the difference as Bowling Green registered its first win of the season with a 42-35 triumph over Eastern Kentucky.
It was the only score of the fourth quarter in a game that featured plenty of offense. The Falcons trailed 35-34 after three periods, but put together an eight-play, 65-yard drive for six points, Doege hit Jordan Wayne-Prather for a two-point conversion to make it a seven-point Falcon lead.
Eastern Michigan had two more possessions and covered 53 yards on 13 plays during the final trip. Three Colonel pass attempts over the final 11 seconds went incomplete, with Brandon Harris breaking up the final pass.
Doege, a sophomore, tied his career-high by tossing four touchdown passes and registered his seventh consecutive game with multiple scoring tosses.
Bowling Green owned 258 yards through the air and added 130 on the ground for a total of 388 yards.
Eastern Kentucky had 109 yards through the air, throwing just 17 times and completing six. However, EKU produced a whopping 389 yards rushing. The 498 yards of total offense was 110 yards more than the hosts. However, BG won the turnover battle with just one turnover to the Colonels three.
