Brown poured in a season-high 27 points on 7-of-8 shooting from three-point range, while Weatherspoon registered his fifth career double-double by virtue of 18 points and a career-high tying 14 rebounds.
Brown’s seven treys (in eight attempts) matched his career best, which he established as a freshman at Florida Gulf Coast. In his last four games, Brown is shooting 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from three-point range and possesses a 54.5 mark (30-of-55) from long distance for the season.
Weatherspoon’s board work played a key role in the Rockets controlling the glass by a 44-29 margin, including a season-high 14 offensive caroms.
UT limited the Colonials to a 40.4 shooting mark, including a 3-of-18 effort behind the three-point arc.
Freshman guard Marcquise Reed topped Robert Morris offensively with 18 points and three assists.
Toledo led from start to finish and took its first double-digit lead, 31-21, on a Brown jumper with 4:15 remaining in the first half. The Rockets put the game away with a 15-3 spurt in the first five minutes after intermission. Weatherspoon tallied eight points (six coming on dunks) in the decisive burst.
Toledo will visit McNeese State on Saturday for its final contest before a short holiday break. Tip-off time vs. the Cowboys is set for 2:00 p.m.
