TOLEDO, Ohio -- Seniors Julius Brown and J.D. Weatherspoon dominated the perimeter and paint, respectively, on Wednesday evening to propel Toledo (6-4) to a resounding 83-57 triumph over visiting Robert Morris (3-7) in Savage Arena. The victory extended the Rockets’ winning streak to a season-high four games and was UT’s 21st in its last 22 home contests.

Brown poured in a season-high 27 points on 7-of-8 shooting from three-point range, while Weatherspoon registered his fifth career double-double by virtue of 18 points and a career-high tying 14 rebounds.

Brown’s seven treys (in eight attempts) matched his career best, which he established as a freshman at Florida Gulf Coast. In his last four games, Brown is shooting 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from three-point range and possesses a 54.5 mark (30-of-55) from long distance for the season.

The Rockets shot 56.6 percent, including a season-best 52.9 percent (9-of-17) from three-point range, and dished out 21 assists (on 31 field goals) against the Colonials’ zone defense. Junior center Nathan Boothe keyed UT’s success against the zone with a career-high seven assists, just one game after dishing out his previous collegiate best of six vs. Arkansas State.

Weatherspoon’s board work played a key role in the Rockets controlling the glass by a 44-29 margin, including a season-high 14 offensive caroms.

UT limited the Colonials to a 40.4 shooting mark, including a 3-of-18 effort behind the three-point arc.

Freshman guard Marcquise Reed topped Robert Morris offensively with 18 points and three assists.

Toledo led from start to finish and took its first double-digit lead, 31-21, on a Brown jumper with 4:15 remaining in the first half. The Rockets put the game away with a 15-3 spurt in the first five minutes after intermission. Weatherspoon tallied eight points (six coming on dunks) in the decisive burst.

Toledo will visit McNeese State on Saturday for its final contest before a short holiday break. Tip-off time vs. the Cowboys is set for 2:00 p.m.
