Sophomore Jairus Grissom led Team Hale down field on an 76-yard drive, capped by a four-yard QB keeper on third-and-goal to put the White team up, 7-0, on the first possession of the game.
Team Fink came right back, using a 31-yard pickup to move into Team Hale's side of the field. After sophomore Preston Hutchinson converted on a QB sneak on fourth and two, freshman Karmi Mackey punched it in on a four-yard scamper to even the score at 7-all.
After forcing a three-and-out, Hutchinson broke through a hole for a 39-yard rushing score to put Team Fink in front, 14-7, at halftime.
Two sacks by Team Hale, one of which negated a 28-yard touchdown strike, kept Team Fink from building on its lead on the first drive of the second half. Despite a 28-yard toss from senior Mike Glass III to junior Michael Thompson that was followed by two more grabs of 10-or-more yards, a pair of timely defensive plays forced a punt to give possession to Team Hale trailing by seven, 14-7.
Another key defensive play, this time by sophomore Blake Bogan , kept the 14-7 score intact into the final stanza. With Team Hale looking to even the score, Bogan intercepted a tipped pass in the endzone to keep Team Fink ahead, 14-7, with one quarter to play.
The score remained the same in the fourth as the defense continued to shine. A near pick-six by Team Hale kept Team Fink from building on its lead, before junior Isaac Stiebeling was stopped on fourth down to maintain the 14-7 score.
A 52-yard scamper down the sideline by freshman Marc Hairston gave Team Hale a chance to tie the game, but Boyd's sack and a stop on fourth down secured the 14-7 victory for Team Fink.
