Buffalo sophomore guard Shannon Evans, who recently decided upon seeking a transfer from the Bulls basketball program, apparently is being cleared for such a move. UB athletic director Danny White released the following statement today:
“The first core value of UB Athletics is our student-athlete experience. To that end, we will always operate and make decisions with the best interest of the young men and women who don the blue and white to represent this wonderful institution on a national stage.
“After learning about the request for a release yesterday, and meeting with the student-athlete, I have decided that granting Shannon Evans a full release to transfer to any school in the country is in his best interest. We wish Shannon nothing but the best in his future academic and athletic pursuits.”

According to a Buffalo News report, Evans is seeking a situation in which he can be viewed by more professional scouts.
The 6-1 Evans blossomed this season, earning Second Team All-MAC honors while Buffalo captured its first Mid-American Conference title and an NCAA tournament slot. He was seventh in MAC scoring, averaging 15.4 ppg and third in assists (4.6 apg).
Head coach Bobby Hurley, who guided the Bulls to MAC supremacy in his second year at the helm, recently accepted the head coaching job at Arizona State.
Evans sought a meeting with White and expressed some frustrations on Twitter before the situation was ironed out.
