ATHENS, OH -- Ben Vander Plas hit 6-of-12 shots from the field and 7-of-8 free throws while scoring 22 points to lead Ohio over visiting Kent State.
It was the Bobcat’s third win over their last four games, with the only loss being to MAC East leading Bowling Green by one point.

Antonio Williams paced Kent State with 22 points, followed by Troy Simon’s 11 and Philip Whittington with 10.
The Flashes, who lost for the third time in their last four games, had one more field goal (24-23) and three more treys (8-5). However, Ohio got to the line for 32 charity tosses and made 25. KSU was 13-of-16 at the stripe.
Ohio held a 36-32 halftime edge, but the Flashes remained within striking distance and grabbed a 58-57 at 3:41 of the second stanza. KSU was still within two (67-65) after a Mitch Peterson triple at 1:19. However, Ohio sank seven free throws down the stretch to pull away.
