TAMPA, Fla -- Richaun Holmes tallied 19 points, adding nine rebounds and four blocks as Bowling Green posted a bounce-back win by defeating South Florida 79-70 Sunday at the USF Sun Dome. The Falcons were coming off a setback to Ferris State last Sunday.

Jehvon Clarke (15), Jovan Austing (11) and Zach Denny (10) joined Holmes in double figures. Denny and Clark each hit three treys, accounting for two-thirds of the BG total (9-of-22, 40.9%).

South Florida got a game-high 21points from forward Chris Perry. Anthony Collins nearly matched that with 20 of his own, while Corry Allen Jr. came off the bench to score 17. No other Bulls player had more than three points.

Both teams shot 50 percent from the field, with Bowling Green totaling one more field goal. The Falcons launched 22 three-point shots, converting nine (40.9%). South Florida hit 4-of-14 (30.8% from distance).

BG netted 18-of-28 at the line (64.3%), while the hosting Bulls hit 16-of-23 attempts.

Three points, including a dunk, by Holmes forged a 31-all tie, but a three point play by Collins allowed USF to hold a 34-31 advantage at the break.

The score was tied again at 43 when the Falcons went on an 8-1 run for a 51-44 lead.

When South Florida closed the gap to 62-60 following a Ruben Guerrero free throw, BG responded with seven unanswered points.

The Bulls managed to get within five on a triple by Allen with 58 ticks left, but that was USF’s final points.
